Well, it's fixed. Here is what I found... The reason that this happened on my 2016 is because the window channel weatherstrip on the inside portion has a curved section that the glass rides against. 2015 EXPED XLT
Had that exact problem on my 2016. The rapid flash is to let you know you have a bulb out. It's a "feature". Corrosion on the socket contacts that the bulb seats against is what I found. A spray of Deoxit contact cleaner and a little grease to keep the humidity out and it's worked since...- developer

2016 XLT - Rear liftgate not latching
All of a sudden, the power hatch on my 2016 expy will not close and latch. It ding-dings and reverses as if something is in the way.
