Help me decide on a muffler
I have decided to use Borla turbo xl mufflers on my expedition. shorty headers, true duals, X-pipe, and big tips for nice noise. there's also lots of videos on you tube of guys with first gen 5.4's with multiple setups. single,dual,cat-delete, w/ w/o headers, 4.6/5.4, etc. I'm sure anything...- dj_mindframe_99

hi guys, we are narrowing down to completion....but at what speed? I know that my rotating assembly has come back from being balanced and is installed into the block. Oil - from regular to synthetic
given that you live in michigan like I do, sticking to the 5W-30 will be just right. the reason is for all of our cold weather. the lighter weight (5W) means the oil thins a little easier to coat a cold engine faster. the only change I would even think of making is in summer time I like to use...- dj_mindframe_99

not done yet. I have no time constraints with this truck. my machinist was made aware the rule is if someone comes in with cash in hand with a rush job that he takes that money and puts it right in his pocket. as such with the holidays right around the corner, I am still waiting for the call...- dj_mindframe_99

As I understand a dyno tune for these trucks will run about $700. I have a superchips tuner with some canned tunes. or do I just fork over the dough for a new tuner with tunes made for my driving habits? keep in mind if i dyno it, I will have proof in numbers in terms of power and torque. and...- dj_mindframe_99

I will give it a good look over when I head back, most of those accessory kind of parts I may have some fun with. like painting all the cooling parts blue for example. the block, oil pan, valve covers, intake and timing cover will all be black, the cylinder heads will be shiny...- dj_mindframe_99

The engine comes together...
So I was at the machine shop today almost all the parts are in to start the rebuild. the rotating assembly needs to be shipped out and balanced before we continue. so we're still a few weeks out, looking like a good Christmas for me?? How to get more out of this tank.
cam change, head porting, flat top pistons. that's just about all you can do to the internals of this engine. Thanks everybody for the comments. I will get some more pictures on here for you shortly. My process was as follows: The panel was marked and cut for the tweeter. and just smoothed the hole with 120 grit to remove the bad bits. Then it got a good through cleaning with rubbing alcohol. I have a 99 expy, and a friend of mine gave me some black leather he had extra so I decided to try and wrap the A-pillar piece of trim and mount a small tweeter in the bottom. Here is my final product.- dj_mindframe_99
