I have an 07 XLT and there is a rolling dimmer switch next to the headlight switch or if I recall correctly you can change the setting on the dash by scrolling through the options of mileage, mpg, etc and find the one that has more settings such as reset oil life, auto dim, auto lock, display...
Check your ignition coil harness plug connections. I had a loose/unplugged one and wouldn't accelerate properly while giving shuddering. Check plug condition. Time to replace? Can you trust the shop you bring it too? Maybe they have a few screws loose and left some of yours loose intentionally...
Check the basics first such as ignition coil harness connections and boots. I had a loose/unplugged connection and gave shuddering without codes. I've read someone having a cracked coil boot grounding the spark and not igniting properly. Next I'd suggest checking the spark plugs themselves. Time...
I had a similar problem on my 07 XLT, basic pull handle lift gate not working. Me being a cheap bast*rd not wanting to spending OEM price on a new handle assembly because I knew it was electrical I removed the handle to inspect it for electronics and lone behold there is a microswitch the handle...
Our trailer weighs about 6500lb loaded and have had it several years.
Things that went awry when hauling:
A spark plug went bad with intermittent misfiring.
A Prestone engine backflush coupler melted off, luckily I was able to limp to a hardware store and put a brass coupler on and back on the...
Like all parts, they don't last forever. Everyone's driving habits also affect the lifespan. My 07, has 306k miles and still has the originals and rides fine. I also like to partake in light off-roading besides the usual pot hole suspension eaters.
Based on my experience I can only recommend Accel as I'm only on my second set of coils with my entire ownership of this car. The coils I have in there now are made by ECCPP and I don't know their reliability. I got them off Ebay years ago for cheap as a backup set.
Make sure you connected the coils back to the harness fully. I recently did my 07 XLT and it was giving constant shuddering. After looking VERY VERY closely, I saw I missed one coil plug back onto the harness. Problem solved.
Sometimes its the smallest things that make the biggest difference...
I'm your average 6' person and I can easily reach #1,2,4,5 easily, #3 & #6 are just a stretch while still standing, only for #4 & #8 do I require a stool to lay over the edge. I replaced all coils, plugs and #8 pigtail without removing anything. Now that I think about it, perhaps I'm biased as I...
No mechanical inclination required for this job as there are no moving parts.
Proper tools, yes. Work space is just standing next to car, or lying on car to get to #4 and #8.
Patience only required when something breaks.
Don't make it overly complicated. You CAN do it yourself, just be sure to have a broken spark plug remover tool just in case. I bought one, but never used it yet. It pays off to apply anti-seize compound to the plug threads. Coils can go 10+ years without issue. My last set, Accel, off Amazon...
