I made sure the shift lever was in park, pulled key out and inserted again. Still couldn’t turn it. Tried moving the steering wheel but couldn’t turn. Pulled key out and inserted and then it turned ok and started the engine. Turned off but then couldn’t pull the key out or start it. Messed around and then it turned and started ok. Turned off and removed the key and has been working ok since. Any ideas?
Thanks

This.

Your issue could be mechanical or electrical.

Mechanical: the lock cylinder itself is acting up. You might try spraying some wd-40 specialist contact cleaner/lubricant on your key and insert it a few times, turn the key a few times…rinse and repeat as you see fit.

Electrical: a module is giving out bad commands or not receiving proper data….more tricky to exactly say what or where.

I’d start with the simplest of fixes, being the wd-40 specialist contact cleaner/lubricant on the key a few times. See where that leads you.

You might be tempted to use just regular wd-40….I would advise against that, but others may say it’s fine. I personally wouldn’t risk it.
