Howdy yall, looooooong time no see!
So I recently got an '05 Expedition with the truck bed option(F150 Supercrew) and the 5.4 engine with 200,000 miles on the clock. After watching numerous FordTechMakuloco videos, I'm convinced the locking pins in the cam phasers are kinda wollered out making...
So I have the intake off already from hunting down this coolant leak, and I found that the elbow that's pressed into the rear crossover is broken... off. I'm sure that with enough tenacity I'll get the stub out of the manifold. Just wondering how to get a new one in though, has anyone done it?
Gonna be hard to make your Expedition into something it's not, honestly. That said - and I have no idea if this is even possible - have you considered looking into a weight reduction for it? I remember a quote from someone in MotoGP racing... horsepower makes you go fast in a straight line -...
It isn't a huge upgrade in and of itself, but if you can find what's known as a "PI" engine then that's a better platform to build upon. Stock they put out 260hp compared to the 235(or is it 245...) that the 97 & 98 5.4s had - I've read on here that they can be tuned for more than 260 as is...
Hey yall, I dunno if I've asked this before - but nothing turned up on a forum search so here goes nothin.
I have a shot at getting a donor 99 XLT for a steal. I'm talking seats, driveshaft, maybe even a PI 5.4 to freshen up and swap in, overhead console, etc. That radio though... I think I...
Back from the initial shakedown - had to tinker with the instrument cluster some to get lights and gauges to work, but I'd call it driveable now. Weird things I noticed while checking switches and stuff.
The 4WD is still kinda intermittent. Like for awhile the A4WD worked and then quit and the...
I went ahead and used dielectric grease on all the pins pointing toward the fuses, then sprayed silicone on the rest. Reassembly went fairly smoothly with no more than a handful of stubborn pins. Everything's back together now, just need to reconnect the ground terminal to the battery and try...
I just did this today as well. It ain't fun. But yes, the fuse block and GEM come out as one unit, and you'll need a small 10mm socket and considerable wrist dexterity to remove the bolts holding the two wiring plugs into the fuse block. I'd also recommend a flathead screwdriver to carefully pry...
So I've had issues with the door locks/4wd/heater fan over the past few years, as well as a drain on the battery that would run it dead within a week. Thought it was the GEM, so I finally made myself pull the fuse block/GEM out today. However, when I popped the GEM circuit board out of the case...
So I found this thread, which gives me some hope!
https://www.expeditionforum.com/threads/aux-auxillary-input-1998-navigator-expedition-3-5mm.20358/
That thread also led me to this thread, which includes a switch in the wiring to go between the auxiliary input and cd changer...
Hi errbody!
By golly it's been awhile! I'm on my third OEM radio, and it now fails to read cassettes or the adapter I use to plug into my phone for YooToob playlists. I'd like to wire a headphone jack into the plug so that I can just switch off the CD changer signal and feed a signal from my...
