Not sure if any of this applies but: I added a Tekonsha controller to a Toyota Sequoia back in the day. I found the spot where my controller was supposed connect to and there was already a plug there. Basically I had to remove the "jumper plug" and then plug in my controller. It threw me...
I have a 2017 XLT 2wd and tow a 22' travel trailer. The truck handles this easily with a WD hitch. Milage varies, 10-12 is typical for towing, city driving is 15 mpg or better. I totally love this vehicle for towing, also have done some non towing long haul trips, its very comfortable. I've...
This sounds like an experience I had. Turned out to the throttle body. My mechanic had to drive it around with a code reader connected since the error codes were not stored.
I had a V8 Toyota Sequoia, traded for 17 XLT. Toyota had the smaller V8 and I found towing a bit of a chore. Expy has more torque for sure, towing is much easier. Fuel economy is good for such a large car, even towing at interstate speed milage is about what I got in the Toyota (and I was...
I love Toyotas, had extremely good luck with them but seems like there's a difference in size and capacity between an Expedition and a Highlander, sort of apples-to-oranges thing. I got my Expy to tow a travel trailer, something I don't think a Highlander would handle.
I second JasonH, tight fuel stations are a pain. Sometimes on secondary highways you don't have the nice big truck stops so you have to live with it. So I always try to fill up when I don't have the trailer connected but that's only a small part of the time. As for what you can do to increase...
I get around 19 when not towing around town, by being pretty light footed.
I tow a 3500 travel trailer, plus some gear in the Expy, probably 4000 total. Generally get around 12 mpg on the interstate doing 70 mph. I generally don't go faster than 65-70 mph.
Once on a trip where the road...
I had to replace the throttle body on my 2017 two weeks ago. Used the official Ford part, dealer had many in stock. My mechanic told me the fact that the had so many in stock probably indicated that its a well known problem (which seems confirmed by various internet stories). He also told me...
