    Contemplating..

I have a 2017 XLT 2wd and tow a 22' travel trailer. The truck handles this easily with a WD hitch. Milage varies, 10-12 is typical for towing, city driving is 15 mpg or better. I totally love this vehicle for towing, also have done some non towing long haul trips, its very comfortable. I've...

    2015 Ecoboost - Fuel Problem

Had a similar experience on my '17, turned out to be the throttle body. One of the cheaper items and easier to replace, so I'd try this first.

    Issues with brake controller

I'd use a volt meter to see if there is any power going to the 7 pin. And check all the fuses.

    Lost throttle. Weird codes

This sounds like an experience I had. Turned out to the throttle body. My mechanic had to drive it around with a code reader connected since the error codes were not stored.

    Gen 3.5 owners.... any regrets

I had a V8 Toyota Sequoia, traded for 17 XLT. Toyota had the smaller V8 and I found towing a bit of a chore. Expy has more torque for sure, towing is much easier. Fuel economy is good for such a large car, even towing at interstate speed milage is about what I got in the Toyota (and I was...

    Decisions, decisions

I love Toyotas, had extremely good luck with them but seems like there's a difference in size and capacity between an Expedition and a Highlander, sort of apples-to-oranges thing. I got my Expy to tow a travel trailer, something I don't think a Highlander would handle.

Wrench light, driving slow hesitate then surge

That sounds like the throttle body, happened to me, but I have 3.5L engine, so who knows.

    power loss and wrench icon

I had the same nightmare. I was having the failure intermittantly but often enough to be scary. No problems since the throttle body was replaced.

    power loss and wrench icon

The whole thing about no codes is kind of silly. If an error condition is happening, which makes the wrench icon come on, a code should be logged.

    2015 Ecoboost over heating solved

I wonder if one blade failing causes a cascade effect on the other blades.

What does your MPG look like with your EX when towing

I second JasonH, tight fuel stations are a pain. Sometimes on secondary highways you don't have the nice big truck stops so you have to live with it. So I always try to fill up when I don't have the trailer connected but that's only a small part of the time. As for what you can do to increase...

What does your MPG look like with your EX when towing

I get around 19 when not towing around town, by being pretty light footed. I tow a 3500 travel trailer, plus some gear in the Expy, probably 4000 total. Generally get around 12 mpg on the interstate doing 70 mph. I generally don't go faster than 65-70 mph. Once on a trip where the road...

Throttle body repair on the road

I had to replace the throttle body on my 2017 two weeks ago. Used the official Ford part, dealer had many in stock. My mechanic told me the fact that the had so many in stock probably indicated that its a well known problem (which seems confirmed by various internet stories). He also told me...

    power loss and wrench icon

Final update: Shop replaced the throttle body, drove it around w/o further problems. Not too surprising given the history of issues with Ford throttle bodies. I'm kind of surprised that no failure codes were stored, given the severity of the problem. But I drove about 100 miles over this...

    power loss and wrench icon

Update on this issue: Took the car to a shop I trust. They found no codes stored even though I had failure happen on the way to their shop. They were unable to duplicate the problem and were about to give up when they experienced the problem. Again, they found no codes so they drove it some...

    power loss and wrench icon

I found more posts on various sites that point towards the throttle body so that's where I'm going go.

    power loss and wrench icon

Update: Nothing on my Scangauge but apparently restarting the engine may clear the codes. I found several posts relating to throttle body or thottle position sensor. The owners manual indicates a generic "powertrain fault".

    power loss and wrench icon

This just happened to me on 2017 truck. Its a 2 wheel drive with about 62K on the clock. I was on level ground going about 30 mph, had a very sudden power loss and the yellow wrench icon appeared with "see manual". I was able to pull to side of the road, shut the engine off, counted to 5...

    Towing withn 2017

I have towed with a 2017 XLT for a three week long trip that included mountains and flatland. My trailer is about 4000 lbs, and my Expy did wonderfully. Hills were no problem, temps remained normal including some pretty warm days and long climbs. I'm guessing the Platinum has the HD tow stuff...

    Fuel Injection/Emission Problem on 2017

I had a similar experience with Ford. My '17 gave me a code, don't remember the exact one, which indicated a PCV issue. I took it to Ford since I still had the bumper to bumper and emissions warranties. They warned me that warranty coverage was based on part number to identify if it was...

    connecting rear view camera

I have 2017 Expy used for towing a travel trailer. I'd like to add rearview camera on the back of the trailer and have it display on the built in dash screen. I've seen some stuff online that there's an AUX input for the video but I'm wondering what kind of connection it requires. Has anyone...

    First tow, setup correctly?

Milage seems low to me. We pull a 3000# trailer with our 2017 2WD rig and we get around 14mpg. However based on your pictures you appear to have more cargo in the TV?

2017 Ecoboost with P051B check engine light

I guess this a thing with this engine. I just bought a 2017 XLT from a Ford dealer, drove about 250 miles over the weekend, and the CEL came on yesterday with this code. The car still has 5K miles left on the power train warranty so if it happens again I’ll take it to my dealer.
