I have had similar and yes, it did gave up on me, $3K to get the tranny rebuild. Have it checked out by professional a.s.a.p., thought I was still backing up one day with a bike trailer in tow and next thing there was no reverse gear. Forward gears kept working fine.
Any update on your changeover as I'm sitting the the exact same issue at the moment, need to replace the TC but unsure if I should get the "low" or "high" stall.
The reverse gear on my XLT has gone awol. I was backing up with a trailer and moved forward a bit to get the alignment correct, when I put it back into reverse there was nothing, revs up but no drive. Put it back into drive and it goes forward, in reverse, nothing.

When I get to 75 mph or more my truck starts to shake, I have brand new wheels on and balanced as this was my first thought, but apparently not. Now I'm considering the possibility that the sway bar has got something to do with it. It does have that distinctive sound at the rear that tells me...
Can someone please help me identify this hose. appears to be a vacuum hose that runs from the passenger side just to the left of the throttle body and runs around the back side of the intake and then connects to a part that is fixed to the firewall just behind and to the left of the brake...
OK! FIXED!
The thin vacuum line as described by everyone was good, leaving me scratching my head. So I started to follow each line on the system. The culprit....... the main hose coming from the brake booster creating the vacuum in the system. This was completely severed at the tie-in valve...
Is this re-directing the air flow from the front vent system, thought it to be a mechanical or electrical system? but seems I'll be stripping down to follow and fault find on the way.
The air flow does not adjust with the settings selected. The air keeps flowing from the center and does not shift to floor or defrost etc. What can be the cause of this? No matter what setting you put the selector on except in the off (O) position it does not redirect the air flow.
This is on...
Has anyone had this issue before? When I turn the AC on there is a hissing sound coming from the left rear somewhere. Sound like it is coming from either the roof lining or the B-pillar behind the driver's seat. Anny suggestions as to the issue before I start ripping the upholstery apart.
