    White Smoke after IAC cleaning

Hi all, A few months ago I cleaned the throttle body and butterfly valve with some intake cleaner and rag....I also pulled the original IAC valve out and cleaned it with carb cleaner. Initially a ton of white smoke came out of exhaust on first startup after I cleaned it (which seemed normal...

    Torque Converter leak

Hi all, 97 expedition 5.4 There has been a slow leak out of the torque converter bellhousing for quite some time now - it's wet and drips real slow out of that round rubber plug on the very bottom there. From what I understand, there shouldn't be any fluid in there right? It should just be...

    Blend door or actuator?

Well anyways, The blend door was broken, i replaced them both however, i think the NAPA blend door must have been slightly bigger on the bottom round base because i spent a few hours trying to get that sucker in there with the backing plate that goes up against heater core. I managed to stuff...

    Blend door or actuator?

Hi all, 1997 Expedition 5.4 XLT My A/C is charged (i bought a can with a gauge and checked/recharged a bit) and it blows cold in the back but not the front. Occasionally in the past, heat would not come out of the vents (but they would still blow air) so after turning the temp knob back and...

How capable would you consider your 4x4 Expedition?

I just put those on a few months ago, haven't tested them in the snow yet, but I'm sure it'll be worth the $1200. I used to run michelin m/s on my little VW in Colorado, those tires got me everywhere! The only problem I had back then was clearance issues, can't plow through 2+ft of snow in a...

    Never again

I clearly do not have as much experience as you guys but I'll put my two cents in anyways to contribute to this discussion: I've always been tempted to try additives in hopes of keeping the engine 'healthy' for the long haul but fortunately I never have, afterall; everything seems to be working...

    Brake Upgrades

Hey thanks for all your replies guys - I just installed the two front rotors/pads today (so I did Motorcraft rotors from the dealership and then the OEM pads (genuine Ford maybe) I don't know if they are ceramic or semi-metallic... fordparts.com does not give any detailed information like that...

    Brake Upgrades

Hey Andy thanks for the good info. My powersport rotors came in early yesterday and I was a little disappointed pulling them out of the box. I work in a machine shop on mill/lathe/coiling machine and the quality of them just didn't feel good in my hand.... Plus, there was a slight nic on one...

    Wheel Hub Maintenance

Hi all, My new rotors/pads are coming in next week and I'm trying to come up with my game plan (never done this before, but am capable) - I would like to take off the rust on the wheel hub assembly ('cause I'm sure it's there) - what's your guys' technique? steel brushes? do you paint the...

    Brake Upgrades

Hello everyone, I've read the few 'brake upgrade' threads I could find on here, but I still want to run a few things by you guys. My front rotors (OEM) are as smooth and shiny as a mirror, and if I remember correctly, the mechanic told me to get new ones last time I got new pads (last year)...

Howdy! I've been reading threads on here for a little while now - now I'm registered because I've got some questions on a brake upgrade I'll probably post in the "General Discussion". 1997 Expedition 5.4L, 190,000 miles here from the Bay Area. Sarah
