Help my mpg is an 8 mile drag

Jack up the rear and spin the tires by hand, then do the front, simple way to see if the brakes or bearings are dragging. Generally, either of those issues will cause shuddering and noise at highway speed, but it never hurts to see what they feel like. Transfer case engaged full time would be...

    Fog light conversion

You might be able to find the bumper at a salvage yard. The wiring & switch location would be the issue for me(going through the firewall, etc). Is the factory switch with the 4th stop available somewhere? Jeff

    A/C instrument panel lights

Nice work.... I'm afraid too delicate for my hands though.

    Question on timing guides/tensioners

I did the timing set & oil pump on my 2000 4.6 last year. It was making quite a bit of noise at 170k. One of the plastic guides had worn through to metal, but it turned out the noise was mostly from the A/C clutch bearing. Glad to get it done though.

    Troubleshooting Help Wanted.

Check to see if your PCV valve is gummed up, then check how soft the PCV hose is...might be collapsing under vacuum.

    Used? Rebuild? Remanufactured? Rear Diff

I put a Detroit TrueTrac in my 2000 F150 at 240k miles. It has the 8.8 though. I can't even tell it's back there in the dry.

    4.6 2V oil pump wear

After cleaning & driving it a few cycles the leak was coming from the original problem location(front cover, valve cover, block)on the driver side. It was very little, but I couldn't let it go. I re-set the valve cover again with fresh puckey.

    Lower Ball Joints question

I opted for Moog lowers(new ball joint & original control arm) & Moog UCA assemblies. The lowers still look good after 8 years, but the rubber boots on the uppers didn't last beyond 5 years.

    4.6 2V oil pump wear

In my case I could hear the chain dragging on the guide . It has a distinctive sound.

    AC compressor clutch noise

No scraping noises. I think I caused a small burr on the surface installing the pulley and the hub took a couple of days to wear it off.

    AC compressor clutch noise

After driving the truck a couple of days the compressor stopped engaging, so I ended up removing all shims from the clutch hub. Working fine now.

    AC compressor clutch noise

Managed to get the clutch assembly replaced the last couple of days. Like a knucklehead I fiddled around with removing the old pulley for a couple of hours before realizing it helps to remove the snap ring. It came off pretty easy after that, no puller required, just gentle persuasion with a...

    AC compressor clutch noise

The new clutch hub is working great, but the noise coming from the area is not going away. I went ahead & ordered a complete clutch assembly when I got the hub, but I was hoping the hub would solve my noise problem. Alas, it didn't. I was beginning to think the noise was the timing chain on that...

    4.6 2V oil pump wear

I can see now it's not the filter gasket, but the wire harness & oil cooler line are wet with oil(at least they are in the area around the PS pump & the filter adapter. I will try to get some brake cleaner in there this afternoon, maybe get the leak bracketed at least.

    4.6 2V oil pump wear

It seems the leak is still around after all. Not much, but there's a couple of small spots under the truck now & some oil collecting in the tray under the filter. If it's seeping from the same place at the cover I can't see it. I have a suspicion the leak is coming from the oil filter...
