On my 1999, the top bolt of the three is hard to get to due to the exhaust manifold, but it can be done easily other than that. Skinny fingers are a big help here.
Cops seem to be the problem. Possibly loose or a broken mount. I found a broken one on mine today in fact and I had the exact same symptoms you have described.
I have routed the hoses directly to the front HC to see if I would get heat. Still no heat. I have eliminated most of the fittings from the block with the exception of the metal ones directly attached to the block. I had a shop replace the water pump due to lack of time to do it. I still have...
I figured it out , I think. HAHA. I found a broken coil mount and the coil was just floating around. I made a new post on another thread about a set of coils for 69.00. They are on Ebay and the brand is Ara parts. I'll try these and let everyone know if they are any good. Thanks for your replies!
Funny thing....I was looking at coils a few minutes before I read this thread. I was thinking about purchasing a set on ebay that lists for 69.00 w free shipping. The brand is Araparts. Never heard of them, but for 69.00 I will just burn them if they don't work. Anyone ever had this brand?
Plugs changed when engine was installed in August 2011. Cops are existing from replaced motor. Engine has 86k. I have been informed when the engine was installed that the cops will have to be replaced soon. These are fairly expensive I believe.
My 99 EB 5.4 is missing slightly at idle and jerking while driving 40 mph or around 2000 rpm. Check engine light came on while it was jerking and going up a hill, but the light went back off. If I accelerate while driving, the jerking stops. I believe it could be fuel related or possibly...
I'll try the ball and see how it does. I know I can take 'em off and let a shop polish them, but I'm sure it will be a lot more than the 20 bucks that the ball costs.
I had it apart before when I changed the HC and checked it thoroughly. I can hear it opening and closing just fine. The thing is, this engine came from a salvage yard and I don't how long it's been without heat.
Thanks for the heads up! I have replaced and repaired everything I know to fix. Here is a list if repaired items:
Replaced: 1- water pump 2-both heater core(s) 3- burped on 5 occasions. 4- Changed t-stat. 5- replaced blend door actuator. 6- inspected blend doors for operation. 7- Checked...
The IAC (Idle Air Control Valve) may be ready for a change or cleaning. Mine idled very high also until I changed it to a new one. The altitiude may affect it too, but I would not think it would that much.
Thanks for the info Skyjumper! Hope mine can look half as good as the pic here!
You nailed it thanks a million! By the way...Any suggestions on cleaning them up?
