226K miles now,
from 180K till now these are the things that I replaced preventatively.
Fuel pump (it was loud once but still running)
ALL rubber brake lines (had some burst on older vehicles)
Brake master cylinder (It worked, but it stops a lot better)
Water Pump (when doing the timing...
I had this same exact issue with the i think hot/cold actuator under the drivers side dash tucked up under towards the center consol.
It would click about every second attempting to find the home position because the potentiometer was broken. My symptoms were nothing worked with it plugged in...
I left everything on the valvetrain untouched and intact, I used a pair of vice grips on the rough casting part to hold the cams in position when I removed the chains. This prevented them from spinning, and I was able to rotate one into position during install.
That was about 50k miles ago...
Think it was something I sprayed on it to clean it. Maybe I grabbed the wrong can of cleaner when I did the bulkhead sleve, I don't know.
I tore out the harness and repaired it and now its back up and running. Liquid tape, heartshrink solder splices. Replaced a blown fuse and it works. Found...
Update:
Truck died, dash lit up light a Christmas tree, No connection to anything.
Found an issue with the transmission plug. . . This might have been causing some issues. . . . All of the insulation is flaking away like someone sprayed it with something that cause the insulation to become...
Cool experience.
I did my timing at 175k ish, only one tensioner was slightly blown, no noise issues. I did the Melling timing kit with the ratcheting cast iron no gasket tensioners and the HV pump. Don't remember which one. . Sitting at 226k and it still running, trans needs some love now...
The pressure is not too bad, but the fact you didnt get to your rated capacity makes me think that you might have a condenser issue. It sounds like the refrigerant is not being cooled, causing pressure to be higher than they should.
Spray the condenser (in front of the radiator) with a hose...
Currently running 265/70/17 Cooper AT3 on the Expy and LOVE them!
First set, I Finished off the Michelins that were on it when we bough it and i did not like them at all, loud and rough.
Second set, I Installed Falken Wildpeak 3 and HATED them, trash tire wore like garbage, rough, and loud...
Just did mine but the tank was empty, used a transmission jack, but an ATV jack, or regular jack with wood to support it would work. Get a cheap craigslist or harbor freight jack.
I would strongly advise against trying to use straps as I don't think that would be safe or even possible.
I went...
The gauges show 110 and 110 approx. . . That would mean you compressor is not running, not turning, is beyond worn out, TXV on front and rear is stuck wide open. . . .
I would double triple check that the compressor is even engaged.
I looked at several and here is what I have seen in addition to the above post.
Cloth front seats leather rear
random holes in the interior or exterior (look at the roof)
Steel wheels
Keep in mind that a lot of the government vehicles sit idle for a LOOOONG time.
If money is no object I would go for a restomod 70/80s Jeep waggoneer with a trackhawk drivetrain and modern interior.
If you are asking about sticking to an Expy, then Small lift and 35" tires and trailer a brake controller.
