Huh?
Accidental starting while working on an engine could be catastrophic for both the vehicle and person working on it. If your mechanic gets hurt as a result of the change then you are going to be held liable. . . Scenario, Tech is working on something in the engine and needs accessory...
After thinking about this some more. The brake pedal does a lot of things really. It prevents unintended starting while working on the car and someone or something bumps the button accidently. It prevents pets from starting the vehicle if you don't want it started. It allows you to turn on...
Thats true for the F-150, the expedition got the second generation 3.5 with the new Gen which is 2018. The expy is a little late to the party.
We have a 2017, definitely no port injection on there.
Just because it takes a while to drain down does not mean its not leaking enough to cause low oil pressure up top. Even a small hole can make a big difference. These engines generally idle less than 20psi then you toss in a 4 or 5 psi loss due to the tensioner and you are in the danger area...
We are in AZ and have a 17 with 109K on it now. Had it for about a year and its been on 87 since day 1. No issues at all. Computer will learn for fuel quality and de-tune it so there is no risk of damage. Only issue we had was the front diff was empty and had to replace it. Other than that its...
I'm guessing you have it all back together now, but I installed a Melling kit with cast iron ratcheting tensioners and a high volume pump. kit did not come with phasers, those are still original. I would definitely put a high volume pump in there if its still open.
Some people definitely do...
Not sure, I haven't done this yet, but I would start it and check for leaks. A safer way is to pressurize it with a pump and check for leaks while wiggling it.
Swing by an auto parts store and have it scanned for codes. It could be a misfire, I would try to rule that out first. Like you said if its happening on the interstate it could be the trans heating up. If you have the ability I would check the transmission fluid level, its under the vehicle on...
If you are looking to save $ Take it to a smaller shop and have them drop a junkyard trans in it for a fraction of the cost. You can go to car-part.com and look them up. I found several low millage 6r80 transmissions for less than $500 on there.
Sounds like the fluid level could be low, or the fluid is toast. look up how to check the fluid level on the 6R80 transmission. Don't get burned too badly.
Went from an 09 EL with 5.4, 6 speed and tow package with 3.73 gears to a 17 EL 3.5EB, 6 speed with a tow package and 3.73 gears.
The 09 was good and I was able to tow a lot of heavy stuff with relative ease, the 17 is lightyears better.
