    Rear Defrost Tab and ESP

I asked a glass guy about soldering - he said don't do it. I used this instead: Permatex 21351 Electrically Conductive Rear Window Defogger Tab Adhesive I did it in the middle of winter, but I put it in the unheated garage with a floor heater in the back and it hasn't come off in 5 months.

    An honest suggestion for Ford

110k km and no brake replacement

I'm 99% sure that driving style explains the wear differences between vehicles for brakes. You and I obviously try to avoid hard stopping. Others seem to think big SUVs should handle exactly like sports cars and drive them as such.

    Approach Detection - MY2020

I googled it - it's the feature that lights up the vehicle when you approach with the keyfob... I was thinking (hoping?) it was for detecting the slope of the ground ahead of your front wheels so you know if you're going to scrape entering a driveway or when off-roading... that would be more...

    Approach Detection - MY2020

I'm unfamiliar with "Approach Detection" - what does it do?

    Brake wear!!!!!!!!

Towing isn't really the issue, in fact that might be less of an issue because there's more weight on your rear wheels. Traction control kicks in (applies the brakes) when there is wheel slippage. In the winter on slippery streets, if you're constantly spinning your wheels (like trying to get...

Driver side rear tail light - inner lens assembly fell off inside

Are you sure they replaced it with a new one? I am suspicious that dealerships will just "fix" it (maybe they just pushed it back into place inside the unit) but they tell Ford it's a replacement so they can be paid for it. There must be some kind of scam around this. You are the very first...

    Towing

I like this - the mirrors being able to power-fold with the extension mirrors installed. My passenger mirror does hit the window but only gently - doesn't move the mirror.

    Towing

These hold really well - actually better than the rubber strap version. Not a concern as long as you clamp it tight enough. I've been using mine for ~9 years with no issues. They vibrate far less than the other (rubber strap) version I had first.

    Blue Cruise observations

Fair enough - if autopilot (and we're talking more advanced that Blue Cruise, I'm thinking full hands-off autopilot) is only used occasionally or for parts of the voyage you're probably right. I believe that pilots constantly train for manual control and are evaluated on it. Not so for drivers...

    Blue Cruise observations

So the better these systems get, the less actual driving the driver does. Which means, when it does fail back to the driver, who is likely doing something else, their skills have degraded / atrophied and they'll be less capable of dealing with the situation. If you worked from home for months...

    Electric signs

Pull up the rubber disc in the bottom of the front cupholder in the console, next to the PRND knob. It's under that.

    Timberline Camper Towing

My changes (I have similar 7200lb trailer GVWR, 2018 XLT): 1) RV dealer put 750lb. WD bars (Blue Ox) - I upgraded to 1000 lb. and adjusted them properly 2) I also put light truck tires (Michelin LTX AT/2) - and I normally run them at 44 psi but increase to 55 psi when towing Those changes are...

    Factory battery life

One thing not mentioned or discussed much here is the charging system. These are not your old-school systems where if the engine is running the alternator is supplying a charging current to the battery. These are much more "clever"... (these days I associate the term "clever" with "designed...

High Belt Line on 4th gens!

The clicking mirror issue has a fix (reprogramming a module) - that's also in a thread here. It's not only the driver's side - you can do the same with the passenger side. But you have to select the passenger side mirror adjust button. But, the proper and acceptable solution would have been...
