On my 2018, if you remote start when it's cold (user manual probably says how cold), the heated steering wheel and heated seats are turned on. There might be a way to change what turns on automatically in this situation but I can't remember if I've ever changed it.
When I switched from P to LT tires, I found this chart (Michelin LTX A/T2 - same size as the original P tires):
This shows what the minimum pressure needs to be for a given load (and vice versa). So to carry my GVWR/payload, I have to bump up the pressure to 44 psi (being a bit conservative -...
I have a 2018 with 150,000 km (93,000 mi) and have had only 1 major repair - Ford tech said grinding from front diff, rebuilt under warranty. I suspect warranty fraud but can't prove it - never went back there.
Maintenance is as expected, 2nd set of tires, brakes twice. Minor repairs such as...
I would have suggested this is the turbo wastegate rattle - search for it, there's a few videos on putting a small spring on it to eliminate the rattle. Not sure it's worth it unless you're really annoyed by the sound.
There's a thread on this somewhere (or it was mentioned in a thread) - in short, the alternator is "smart" and only puts out charging voltage when it needs to - often times it is not charging at all because it thinks the truck battery doesn't need it. When I talked to a guy at the RV store...
When I went from my 2006/5.4L V8 to the 2018/3.5L EcoBoost it was a night and day improvement! Way more torque in the new engine, at lower rpms, and the 10-speed keeps you in the sweet spot way more often. I'm towing 7200lbs loaded in Western Canada. You should definitely look at a new one.
Sorry I should have specified it's the IOS version that upgraded to v5.0.1. I do agree that this new version isn't an improvement from the previous one (which was admittedly a limited app already).
Is it possible that the vehicle health information is now dependent on having paid internet connectivity from the vehicle (I think it's called FordPass Connect)? I tried playing with some connectivity stuff yesterday - first I used a USB key to upgrade SYNC (apparently even though I connect it...
I re-installed the app - no change. I guess I might as well delete it as I never use the features that still work (lock/unlock, remote start, distance to empty).
This is what I see on the Service page:
I can lock/unlock the vehicle, and I remote started it and stopped it. No change. I guess I'll try uninstalling and reinstalling the app...
I switched to the new app yesterday - I went in to check the odometer, and it's not available! Under Vehicle Health it just says "Temporarily Unavailable". Can't click on it. Did anyone else see that? Do I need to re-pair with my Expy or something?
Even though it's a harsher ride, I keep mine at 44psi because if my truck is fully loaded that's the load that each tire needs to be able to handle. I'm rarely at full payload but figure it's safer this way. Try and find your tire chart from Michelin (I found my AT2 LTX chart on their...
I asked a glass guy about soldering - he said don't do it. I used this instead: Permatex 21351 Electrically Conductive Rear Window Defogger Tab Adhesive
I did it in the middle of winter, but I put it in the unheated garage with a floor heater in the back and it hasn't come off in 5 months.
I'm 99% sure that driving style explains the wear differences between vehicles for brakes. You and I obviously try to avoid hard stopping. Others seem to think big SUVs should handle exactly like sports cars and drive them as such.
I googled it - it's the feature that lights up the vehicle when you approach with the keyfob...
I was thinking (hoping?) it was for detecting the slope of the ground ahead of your front wheels so you know if you're going to scrape entering a driveway or when off-roading... that would be more...
Towing isn't really the issue, in fact that might be less of an issue because there's more weight on your rear wheels.
Traction control kicks in (applies the brakes) when there is wheel slippage. In the winter on slippery streets, if you're constantly spinning your wheels (like trying to get...
Are you sure they replaced it with a new one? I am suspicious that dealerships will just "fix" it (maybe they just pushed it back into place inside the unit) but they tell Ford it's a replacement so they can be paid for it. There must be some kind of scam around this. You are the very first...
I like this - the mirrors being able to power-fold with the extension mirrors installed. My passenger mirror does hit the window but only gently - doesn't move the mirror.
These hold really well - actually better than the rubber strap version. Not a concern as long as you clamp it tight enough. I've been using mine for ~9 years with no issues. They vibrate far less than the other (rubber strap) version I had first.
Fair enough - if autopilot (and we're talking more advanced that Blue Cruise, I'm thinking full hands-off autopilot) is only used occasionally or for parts of the voyage you're probably right. I believe that pilots constantly train for manual control and are evaluated on it. Not so for drivers...
