Suspension upgrades - kinda hard to find..

They don't really. I've seen people with trailers made out of old bed frames, welded together with a couple of car batteries and a coat hanger as an electrode... You can literally tow anything in this state and the state troopers won't care. Don't speed though.

Suspension upgrades - kinda hard to find..

I'm looking for suspension upgrades as well, but for slightly different reasons. Old truck was a 2003 Ford Excursion Limited with a 6.8L V10 engine. I could put a house behind the thing and wouldn't even know it was there... Heaviest load I've towed was over 9k lbs. Too much tongue weight...

SJB (Smart Junction Box) modification - separate turn signal bulbs

I have a paid copy of ForScan. I've been exploring some options in the Smart Junction Box programming One such option allows me to select rear tail light options. My choices are: 0 - Bulb Outage OFF 3 - Stop and turn signals use same bulb 12 - Stop and turn signals use separate bulbs I know...

    Bumper recommendations?

My 2012 Expedition EL needs some REAL steel or aluminum bumpers, not the plastic crap that's on there now. My previous truck hit multiple deer at highway speeds and I have been rear ended more than three or four times within a year in stop and go traffic. Never hurt the stock steel bumpers on...

Debating trading in or sprucing up my '14 Limited

It's called technology. You have a landline? Or are you still sending messages by carrier pigeon and pony express? Look at the V8s of yesteryear. 2bbl carburetor Fairlane/Meteor 221 cubic inch V8 makes 145 HP. That's getting on Honda Civic territory. As technology improves, we can get more...

    Catalytic or cat lock DIY?

$160 is too expensive for you? I paid $600 for the cat clamp that's on my Ford Excursion. Also why would you pay for labor?

APIM module? Do I need it or can I scrap it?

I have a 2012 Expedition EL (with factory nav and a factor subwoofer) and am gutting the factory stereo. Question: Do I need to retain the APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) that lives in the center console for ANY reason? Does the APIM deal with the HVAC system? Does the APIM deal with...

    275/65R20 tires? Load Range E? 10 PLY?

The P275/55R20 Tires I pulled off of my Expedition said 44 PSI max. 65 PSI no es bueno. I have swapped them out for LT275/65R20 Tires with an 80 PSI max pressure rating. No rubbing at full steering lock. She sits about an inch higher.

    275/65R20 tires? Load Range E? 10 PLY?

Well I am trying to set up my new Expedition for towing. I haven't found much in the way of suspension or brake mods... I bought a Blue Ox sway control hitch and a set of E Load Range tires for it. I'm used to towing with your regular straight hitch on the Excursion as it doesn't even know a...

    275/65R20 tires? Load Range E? 10 PLY?

I'm told that Load Range E tires help control trailer sway when towing. Stock tire size is 275/55R20. TireRack.com only has THREE sizes of tire in Load Range E for that size. I'm partial to the Michelin LTX A/T-2 275/65R20 tires that are on my Excursion (Using 2014 SuperDuty Platinum wheels.)...

Hiding two 12s in a 3rd gen (2007-2017) Ford Expedition EL?

It's got a factory 8 inch hidden in the left/driver's side trim behind the 3rd row. Wondering if anyone's put a 12 in that location. I'll try and fit the 2nd 12 on the opposite side or in the liftgate; I don't think the liftgate struts and motor will support the weight of both 12s. I'd rather...

End of an era; Downsizing to an Expedition EL.

Current truck is a 2003 Excursion. I love this thing. I have four teenage nieces plus two of my own kids... Also have two large dogs. Packing for vacation has never been easier and day trips in one vehicle are a breeze... (Seating for 7 plus cargo is a MUST.) I have a track car (Mazda RX-7)...
