What was Ford thinking by adding back in the tailgate?

They were thinking people might want to open the rear hatch without hitting their trailer’s tongue jack.

    How hot is too hot?

Normal for these transmissions is all the way up to ~240F, believe it or not. They do use a high temperature transmission fluid…

    2024 Expedition Vs 2024 F150 Towing/Payload Capacities

But aren't they different generations of the same platform? The 2021 F-150 was revised for significantly more payload to accommodate the batteries for the hybrid. The 2024 Expedition is still based on the 2015 Ford F-150 platform as are all gen 4 Expeditions.

    Camping trailer towing question

That’s too long and too heavy for your Expedition. That said, there are lots trailers that fit 6 and which are also a good match for your Expedition. (We fit 6 in a trailer with an 18’ box.)

    Payload Expedition w/tow package 2023-2024

having spent a lot more time than I should have studying that spreadsheet: you’ll want four wheel drive, HD tow, and no panoramic sunroof. Four wheel drive increases the FAWR, HD tow increases the RAWR, and the panoramic sunroof weighs about 150-180lbs more than the standard roof. Trim level...

Navigating Towing Challenges: Seeking Advice After Discovering My Vehicle’s Towing Limitations

I think you're going to want them to take it back and give you one with the HD tow package. On the rear axle, I think the gear ratio will be fine, but you're going to want the extra payload. The 3.73 that comes with the HD tow package is rated at 4380lbs while the 3.31 is only rated 4200lbs...

Deciphering the new CAT scale numbers with new ride, WDH, and Load Leveling shocks...

Now let's look at what the WDH is doing with respect to the trailer, using the 6580lb truck weight Not engaged, we have a tongue weight of 1000lbs and a trailer axle weight of 6280. When you engage the bars, the trailer axle weight increases by 240 lbs (6520-6280), which is what we expect to...

Deciphering the new CAT scale numbers with new ride, WDH, and Load Leveling shocks...

IF we use your non-engaged data I get a tongue weight of 1120 or 1000lbs (depending on which truck weight you use). Tongue weight = GCW - trailer - truck alone.

    Possible Expedition Owner

I have a 2018 Expedition and a 2015 Honda Odyssey. And I'll repeat what everyone else here has said: if you're not towing or going off pavement, get an Odyssey. But if you are (or might be) towing, get the Expedition. Yes, I have the first year of the re-design and I do a lot of towing, so I...

    Load Range E tire pressure

I’ll add to the wisdom of the KO2 crowd (ad populum and all) as I run 45 not-towing/65 towing.

Only 1 USB port in front seat area??

Can you not use a USB-C to USB-3.0 adapter for your 2nd USB port? That gets you two USB-3.0 outlets plus there's the wireless charging pad. How many devices do you need to charge in the front row?

    Better mileage pulling trailer

As others have said, if you have the 3.5 EcoBoost, premium gets you about a 10% improvement in fuel economy when towing.

    Buying Used - 2015 - 2017 lower miles v 2018-2020 higher miles?

In general I prefer lower mileage vehicles over higher mileage ones. The caveat here is going to be payload. Like for like, the 4th gen Expeditions have a bit more payload than the 3rd gens. Since you already have the trailer, you should already have a good idea of tongue weight, weight of...
