Any kind of grade is a challenge to find in Houston. It's a tad flat around here.
And yes, the TC fluid is Mercon LV. I'm going to drain and refill a little more frequently than the 150,000 mile suggestion in the manual.
I can't say for sure that the 4WD system actually works, I'd be like you, assuming it works as there is nothing to tell you it isn't, until you actually need it. I checked the vacuum lines to the 4WD actuators, and they seemed to be good, pulling enough vacuum when asked and releasing when...
So I bought my first 4WD vehicle last year. Replaced my aging 2003 EB 2WD with a 2014 EL Limited 4WD - currently at about 69,000 miles. My previous Expediton was a great vehicle, not much went wrong until age started to take its toll. This new one has been a source of headaches when it comes...
When my Ac started blowing warm air in the front it was because the AC compressor and the AC compressor clutch failed. It was intermittent at first, then got more frequent pretty quickly.
When the clutch finally failed it was obvious because the serpentine belt squealed since the AC compressor...
That jives with my experience with my 2003.
I've not had a problem with my ABS scanner, so it has never required to be involved in the routine brake line bleeding steps. Now I've learnt that if I do have an ABS unit issue ever, my brake bleeding job becomes more complex the first time...
I've replaced all the calipers on my 2003. All were easy to bleed.
To test the theory of 1955moose, can you confirm if you can bleed the caliper on the other wheel of the same axle? If that one bleeds easily, then surely we are not talking about the ABS scanner solution?
Agreed. I flush the brake fluid every 2-3 years on my vehicles. It's simple when you get a buddy, or son, to help you do it.
I just did a flush when I changed the rotors, pads and rear caliper. I could have got air in the system when I changed the caliper for sure. But I bled them a lot...
Problem solved
Took the offending wheel off and discovered the clip that hold the pads in place was a little warped (had to fight it to get it back on, so it must have warped a little too much then) and was rubbing on the inside of the wheel.
Anyway, I have another question if anyone is...
So I have a 2003 5.4L Expedition, and it has had a squeaking front drivers side wheel for a while. It squeaks once per rotation at the same spot. I figured it was a slightly warped rotor, or some other minor brake issue.
I'd had the current set of ceramic Duralast rotors and pads on there...
Hi Folks,
Thought I'd join the forum and say hello.
I have a 2003 Expedition Eddie Bauer edition and I'm going to try and keep the sucker running smooth without paying too much for mechanic repairs.
I'm in Houston, TX
