i just bought a 2015 X have questions about suspension

No, you shouldn’t have anything electronic or electric on your suspension. That only came with the 22” wheels. You could have load-leveling shocks in the rear, but only way to tell is by part number or verifying the build through the window sticker or ETIS. Air suspension was not an option on...

HI just bought a 15 X and put on new wheels need help

Going up is easy. You said you wanted to go down in front. There are no options no for that. Short of cutting the springs and increasing the spring rate as well.

HI just bought a 15 X and put on new wheels need help

There are no aftermarket options available to lower the 15-17 that I’ve found. You can replace struts and raise it with spacers, but that’s about all the options that exist for this gen of Expedition. When I look at your pic, seems level to me. The rear wheel opening isn’t as large as the...

    Purchasing a used 2017 EL - Rentals

My 2015 XLT EL was a rental. I bought it last year with 35K on it and I’m at 56K now. Other than some additional scratches and dings I likely wouldn’t have found on a non-rental, there were no surprises. The leather on the driver’s seat outer bolster was more worn than I might have expected...

New (to me) 17 Plat EL

Congrats on your purchase. They are amazing road trip vehicles. I commute 7 hours one way once or twice a month, often with my dog, and sometimes with 2 adults, 3 kids, and 2 dogs, and they all seem to think it’s pretty good. In some ways, they are outdated compared to other vehicles on the...

    Bulletproofing 6R80 Trans

I personally believe that to an extent, accelerating slowly and not causing the trans to shift at higher RPM is probably better for it in the long run. I’m also the type who likes to flog his truck fairly often, and I’m on tune version 4 because of that. The shifts in this truck were terrible in...

    Bulletproofing 6R80 Trans

Slow, soft shifts mean the transmission is slipping the clutches to produce those shifting characteristics. It’s the same equation as slipping the clutch on a manual in order to avoid jerking during shifts. That slipping creates added wear and produces heat, which kills an automatic faster...

    Bulletproofing 6R80 Trans

The intermediate shaft may be a weak point in an 800-hp Mustang, but your daily driver 400-hp Expedition isn’t going to gain any life expectancy out of it. Clutches and bands may improve it, as they are designed for more power than you’ll likely ever see out of your EcoBoost. I personally feel...

    Raising a 2014 Expedition

The towing and self-leveling options are separate, you can have one without the other. I’m not sure there is a way to check it without being able to see the part number on the shock itself. Other than checking it in ETIS. I don’t have access, but you can register as an independent service shop...

    2012 Expedition Transmission/Differential Issues

Sounds like a rear diff problem based on what you’re saying. I’d see if there is any grinding with the rear wheels off the ground and turning one by hand. If you feel any resistance or grinding then that narrows it down to the diff bearings or the spider gears. If it feels really rough, one of...

    2012 Expedition Transmission/Differential Issues

The transmission and differential are completely different components. If they said the transmission is fine, then it could be a differential or transfer case problem. A hum that’s turned into a grinding noise could be a variety of things, bad spider gears, bad pinion bearing, even a bad CV...

Light Bar Brackets - Any for 07+?

F-150 brackets should work just fine. I’d stick them in place with double-sided tape and confirm fitment before drilling into the pillar/roof, but don’t foresee a problem. On an F-150 they fit 04-14, which is the basis for the third-gens. I’ve seen them for 50, 52, and 54 inch bars, both...

    Lifting a 2008 - Tire/wheel questions

FORScan has the ability to change tire size on the 15-17. Probably can do it on the older ones as well. I’m not sure what line it is on the older trucks, so you’d have to figure that out, but it’s a simple hex conversion to change it.

    Raising a 2014 Expedition

F150 uses standard shocks in the rear, the Expedition uses a strut assembly. So you’re stuck with Expedition-specific parts. https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/ford,2014,expedition,5.4l+v8,3305849,suspension,strut,7584 They show quite a few different options, including Monroe and KYB. You...

2017 Expedition sounds 10 Warning Chirps At Startup

That sounds like an aftermarket alarm to me. Same as 17Limited, neither mine nor my wife’s 15 make anything that sounds even remotely like that. I’d look around to see if you can find an alarm module under the dash.

    2017 Expedition Air Suspension

Nivomat mechanical self-leveling shocks. It’s what came in the 15-17 Expedition/Navigator with load leveling. They are factory replacements for the shocks, do not require external devices of any kind, and those who have them seem to like the way they work. I can’t remember the specifics, but...

    aFe Stage 2 Intake Installed!

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1878MuG8pOfjP9stTx8c_60O8mw8SdRzT Hopefully this works correctly. I don’t use YouTube, so I put it on my Google Drive instead. It’s about 4 minutes, I didn’t cut out any of the middle, as the roads are pretty winding here and it’s a constant on/off the throttle...

    Navigator LEDs on our Expeditions

Interesting. While I don’t encounter them that often, I’ve never noticed them being brighter. The headlights are clearly brighter, as they have factory HIDs, but the fog lights have always seemed identical other than the design to my eyes.

    aFe Stage 2 Intake Installed!

What perspective are you looking for? I can’t even really hear it inside the cabin except at light throttle. Above that, my exhaust is more noticeable. I can stick my go-pro with the suction cup mount directly where the intake is and drive to work. Perhaps it will be more noticeable from there.

    Navigator LEDs on our Expeditions

They look like they would be a direct swap, and from what I’ve seen the LEDs are identical, as is the beam pattern. Is it strictly for the look?

    aFe Stage 2 Intake Installed!

You can give it a shot. They don’t really even need to get a sensor to do the R&D. It’s the same sensor the 2015 F-150 uses. All that would be required is for them to modify the tube with a 2015 sensor hole. Just as an FYI, the Full Race 2012-14 F-150 Ecoboost intake includes provisions for...

    aFe Stage 2 Intake Installed!

I’ll get a pic tonight when I get back home for the first time in a week. As far as the ‘how’, I pulled off the o-ring, and then used a mini-hacksaw to cut off the lip on the side away from the connector, along with any of the plastic in the area I marked with red that was larger than where the...

    aFe Stage 2 Intake Installed!

This is what the 2014 F-150 sensor looks like. So the connectors are definitely different. They changed the style in 2015 on the F-150, which is the version of the sensor we have, but the 2015 F-150 intake is completely different except for the Full Race version. With enough ingenuity, anything...
