Assuming everything is mechanically OK with the trailer, as the others have noted it sounds as if the tongue weight is too light, or the gear is centered behind the trailer axles.
I get 18-19 on the highway with my '06 Expy. I had an '05 Explorer with the 4.6 in it and I got between 18-20 on the highway. The second gen Expeditions ride a lot better than the second gen Explorers. If you were talking about '08 -'10 Explorers, they ride much better than the '02-07's. In...
I just replaced the shocks on my '06 with Bilsteins and love them. However, they weren't the easiest things to replace. The worst part is getting the entire strut removed as you have to remove tie rod ends and control arms, so you have to do this either way. Another bad part was the top nut...
Just because you can, doesn't mean you should do it!! Wow, I think the gearing is either off, or he was afraid to get on it in case it would rock backwards and flip due to the massive torque.
Most tensioners use a 1/2 ratchet to release the tension. Just insert the ratchet and turn and the tension releases. Hold it there and slide the belt off, then slowly release.
Sorry, I have no idea on linkage setups between the two cases, but I would think they would be similarly located. But if your swapping the engines, the tranny swap should just coincide with that. The crossmember mounts will likely needed to be tweaked or re-drilled to mate up.
Have you...
If it's going to be mated to the diesel, I would go for the 4r100 anyway. It's a bit more durable than the 4r75e. IIRC, the early diesels had the 4r100. Could be wrong though.....but I know the Lightnings had it.
Make sure the front controls for the rear controls are set to the "rear" setting. Then the rear control panel will be able to actually control the settings.
Correct in saying the LS is not possible when you have Advance Trac. When I ordered my 2002 Explorer I checked off LS and Advance Trac. When it came in without the LS I questioned the dealer and found out it has to be deleted when the Advance Trac is optioned.
I would make sure when you go to...
If you know the original selling dealer, they will actually get a copy of the orginal window sticker for you. I did this on my F150 Harley 2 years after the truck was initially sold.
As already stated, it all depends on your driving style and the actual tires you have. I just replaced 2 of the original Continental tires on our 2006 at 75,000 miles. The other 2 can get me through winter, but need replacing as well ( I just needed some better rear traction through the Winter).
Sounds as if the ignition might have been re-keyed and they didn't do the door lock to match.
As far as the charger ports, you're best bet is to look at the fuse for them. The specific one to look at will be in your owners manual. If that doesn't work, maybe it is unplugged under the console.
Well I definitely can't pull anything bigger/heavier!!! Off the hitch without a WDH I am at 6000+ lbs. In that pic I was also at 850 lbs. tongue weight!!! I am now right about 600 lbs after I moved the trailer axles forward 9 inches.
I see it as a good thing that the boat makes the Expy...
