    Need to Replace Front Hub/Bearing

It looks as if 180-220 is what I'm seeing between Moog, Motorcraft, and Timkin. Can find cheaper ones on ebay, but at what quality. I'll probably take the wheel off and inspect the hub/bearing a little more closely this week. When I look at a Ford Parts site, it appears that the wheel...

    2003 expedition brakes

When you pressed the pads back in, did the piston move smoothly? Did you remove the brake reservoir cap when doing so? Could be the piston needs to be greased, or there is now too much fluid in the reservoir with too much pressure if you didn't remove the excess after pressing the pistons in...

Gross Coolant Leak near radiator-engine inlet hose

If there is plenty of thickness around the hole, it can be welded. Having something as a removable backer inside the hole will prevent any buildup in the passage.

    Dealership install time on

You should definitely get it back the same day you drop it off. If they are saying it's a bunch of wires to install, they are giving you a load of you know what. Definitely a situation worthy of a stern conversation with the service dept. Hopefully they didn't damage your car's wiring, or...

Paint Bubbling on '08 EL. Walk away?

I have/had the bubbling paint, and if it were me, I would either have them fix it, lower the price to reflect future cost to repaint, or walk away. A friend who works in a body shop said he sees quite a few Fords come in with this and even properly prepped, it can come back after a repaint.

Cant fill the tank to the top

You can't always trust the computer to be exact. When mine shows 30 miles left, it will only put in 22-23 max, and mine is a 27 gallon tank. It could be your gauge calibration is just a tad off, and that reading is actually Full for your vehicle.

What's this hole in my head?

Are you sure those are stock manifolds? I would assume the gasket would be solid over that hole if it weren't needed.

    Expedition Shopping

If it only has a 4 pin plug, it DOES NOT have the HD towing package. The vehicle has the loose wires there to hook up a trailer brake if needed since it does have a hitch. The 7 pin plug is actually spliced in to the 4 pin plug from the factory, so a factory HD tow vehicle will have both the 4...

    Switch Blade Key Fob

It sounds as if the key does not have the chip in it. Some remote starters hide a transponder key near the box to bypass the PATS system, so the car can actually start remotely. When that is activated, your new key will not be the initial key and it will turn the ignition. But it won't be...

    my experience with non-ethanol gas

Every station in my area has 10% Ethanol. I ran it in our Expy and boat for the last 5 years without issue. Would I prefer non-Ethanol fuel? YES. Do I see any loss of power or poor running engines from it? NO. I regularly get 18-19 MPG highway, and 13-14 around town, and the engine runs...

    Need to Replace Front Hub/Bearing

At 88,000 miles, I need to replace the front passenger wheel hub/bearing. In the last couple of weeks I have noticed a rhythmic noise at higher speed, and when I turn sharply left at lower speeds I get more pronounced hum. So my question is, what brand have people used to replace the hub...

    how to tell diffrence....

I think in 1999 Ford made a few changes, and the harnesses might be different from your '98. You can probably rewire where needed if you get a '99 or later engine, but just be aware it might not be 100% plug and play. I'm sure someone who has better info will chime in when they get a chance.

    05 Electrical Nightmare need help

I would think the wiring for the 12V power source as I think they are all on a single fuse. The bogging down sounds like a misfire, so I would check the plug or COPs. The back-up sensor...probably have one bad sensor that is making it go off. Happened on an Explorer I had. Gauge cluster...

    had a vision

The same year hatch should swap over, but doesn't the Navi have extra trim/cladding on the bottom also? That is one of the only features of the Navi I do not like. Just something about lights on the tailgate that just doesn't look right, and just added on to make it different.

Remote started my Expy through the remote. WTH?

I know the Ford remote start I had on a previous vehicle, you needed to hold down the lock button for about 3 seconds for it to start or stop. Might want to try that.

    Lost as hell

Are you sure it isn't the accessory belt? It will squeak when it's under load (ie accelerating), but may not when revving standing still in neutral.

2000 expedition e.b. Edition general question

The 5.4 is a strong motor, and fairly reliable with regular maintenance. With over 190K miles on it, I would be leery unless the price is right. If the owner can show you a good maintenance history, then the gamble might pay off. Make sure the plugs have been changed and that none of them...

    Horse Power to Tow

You'll have no problem pulling the trailer. Not that it matters here, but tell your Scout Master that torque is the key factor in towing. :favorites13: BTW, my '06 has 300 HP, and it towed 6000+ lbs for the last 5 summers.

    What Can I Tow?

6000 lbs without a weight dist. hitch. 8600-8900 with a WDH. However, it all depends on Tow package, 4x2 or 4x4, and whether or not it has air susp in the rear. I was right at, or a little over 6000 lbs with the boat, and it handled it without any issues. I even had the tongue weight at 850...

    high pitched whine

It might be the start of a wheel bearing going bad. The colder night firmed up the bearing grease and exaggerated the noise. Could also be the rear diff oil was thicker too. Just keep an ear out for the noise when warmed up though. I would expect it to slowly get worse if it's either a...

    New shocks?

Good choice. I put the Bilsteins on my '06 and like them. I also had them on my '02 Harley F150 and past BMW's and loved them on those too. Can't really go wrong with them.
  24. Stoned06

    New shocks?

Bilsteins will be a little firmer of a ride, so I would guess that's not what you want. Honestly, Motorcrafts are designed to give a softer ride, and are specifically designed for the specific vehicle. Ranchos would give you a softer ride also. If you are going aftermarket, I would suggest...

Found some wires that have been tampered with

Picture or a better description of the wires and relay would greatly help with a suggestion. My guess is the modulator for the contraption next to the thingamajig. JK. Can't really tell you anything other than the red is most likely a hot wire. I'm sure the PO had a remote start or...
