Programmers / Reading Codes & Data / Etc.

I went with this one from Joying as it is easy to root and put custom software on. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00YE7SN9K/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 The nav is one of the better I've used and having the torque app for data monitoring is great. The main downside is...

    back glass rattle?

I pulled the stock weather stripping off my doors and hatch and fed some surgical style tubing through it all. Seems to have gotten rid of most of my rattling and cut down on some wind noise as well. I don't have subs or anything though so not sure if it would stand up to that.

    After market cd player

I put an android headunit in my expy without a cd player at all. It fits considerably more than 6 cds worth of music on the SD card. Since I had the cd changer initially, I made a playlist for each of the 6 cds I had in there for familiarity. It's also so nice having the center console free of...

    Need help with heat

If it's warm while driving and cold while idling it's likely not the blend door. I think your heater core is partially plugged. You can disconnect the hoses and try blowing it out with a hose and/or some compressed air.

    Suspension Replacement

I've replaced everything on mine since picking it up 3 years ago with 127k on it. Control arms, ball joints, tie rods, sway bar links, idler arm etc all with Moog replacements with grease fittings. I did Bilstein shocks all around as well. Rides very well.

Programmers / Reading Codes & Data / Etc.

I'm a DIY tuner as well (mostly Subaru and other turbos), so I wasn't too crazy about getting a canned tune. It wasn't really worth it to me for this platform though to do full on tune at that kind of cost. In the future if/when I add some boost to this truck, I will be going that SCT software...

Deteriorating vacuum hoses around throttle body

Same here. A few different hose sizes, a couple hose T's and L's to keep everything clean and free from kinking up as well.

    projector HID retrofit

Well after a bit more research, and running across this thread (Lightning Headlight MH1 Projector Retrofit guide!!! - Ford F150 Forum - Community of Ford Truck Fans), I've decided I will likely go with the Morimoto mini H1's, which apparently won't require any cutting of the buckets. I actually...

    projector HID retrofit

I’d been meaning to address this on my Expy for quite some time now. A couple years ago, I picked up a cheap set of clear lenses from Amazon but they didn’t really help much with light output, and have been difficult to get aimed properly. I finally pulled the trigger on a new set of lamps...

Additional Aux Front Fog Driving Lamps

I've been meaning to do a post but I'm still in the process of a full lighting upgrade. Part of it was a front mounted 32" curved LED bar. It puts out a pretty ridiculous amount of light at night.

    Lights flickering

No there aren't any shorts anywhere. All those lines have been redone at least once with new wires. This has been an ongoing problem since I bought the truck 3 years ago so mostly everything has been replaced at this point. In this case it seems like the alternators smaller 2 wire connector...

    Lights flickering

Might be a little early to tell, but I think I might have this resolved. Separating the alternator wires seems to have done it. They were running together in the same loom (the 2 wire connector as well as the larger wire). I had bought an alternator filter to try, and before it arrived I...

    Lights flickering

    1. I believe it is a maintenance free battery. (AutoCraft Gold Battery, Group Size 65, 850 CCA 65-2: Advance Auto Parts) 2. The tensioner bounces at idle. Probably about 1/8" of travel. Tensioner/idler (both dayco parts) were replaced 3 years/15k miles ago in an effort to get rid of belt...

    Lights flickering

I did run a jumper cable from the battery to various places on the engine with no change in the flickering. My friend/mechanic is suggesting we try a capacitor inline with the charging system. He has one laying around so it's free to try. I'm all for getting the flickering to stop but I feel...

    Lights flickering

I can try that, but I have a fairly ridiculous amount of grounds coming off the battery. Going to the body, alternator body, frame etc all 0 AWG wire. The battery and battery terminals were recently changed as well. The starter was recently out and that ground was cleaned up as well.

    Lights flickering

I've finally had some time to go through the fuse exercise today. I found that the only fuse that stopped the flickering completely without causing it to stall was fuse number 11. That's the charging circuit though so I guess that was to be expected?

    Hot days no power.

Have you ever had to replace the fan clutch on it?

    Best E-Fan?

I looked at that Hayden controller as well but it said it was only good for temps up to 210. It should work out okay, but I didn't want my fan kicking on whenever I sat at a longer than usual red light or was idling after warmed up. 220-230 seems like the correct range for this truck.

    Green Eddie Bauer discolored hood

Mine is a bit as well in my 99.. If you can't fix it with some polishing compound on a polisher then you probably just need to have it repainted. A decent body shop should be able to match it up to the rest of the paint.

    Loud Fan Roar

Did you replace the fan clutch? If so which manufacturer/part#. I think you're having the same issue I dealt with for a year or so before I went with the e-fan setup. The only part I could find to replace my worn OEM fan clutch was the "Severe Duty", which I think just tends to run the fan a...

    Loud Fan Roar

Mine did this in extreme heat and on cold starts as well. It was also underpowered while it was making the "jet engine" like noise. I replaced the fan clutch and it wasn't really much better as all I could find was a heavy duty replacement. You can try a standard duty fan clutch if you can find...

    Best E-Fan?

I went with the windstar fan as well. I setup the larger fan to work on a temp switch and the smaller fan to work from a manual switch. When cruising, the temperature rarely drops below 200 in my truck. I have it set to come on somewhere around 230 (so that it doesn't kick on overtime I'm at a...

    Diablo T1000 programmer

Sounds like the correct one. I found their tune to be somewhat garbage though. I've had the best luck with running the stock tune with +4 degrees global timing advance and 93 octane fuel.

That's a great idea. I will give it a shot and report back.
