On my 2009 5.4 its on the fuel tank closest to the engine side, right under the drivers side seat essentially. It was a bit of a pain at first, after I realized how to undo the blue clip going to the engine it was stupid simple. The clips holding it on from the tank side were brittle and fell...
I did a bunch of work to the truck before I installed the tune so I knew it was healthy.
new plugs, fuel filter, air filter, made a huge difference. I'm sure my fuel filter was pretty plugged up, it was heavy, and that was the final piece that netted a noticeable difference in drivability. most...
Your multiple mechanics are completely wrong that modern fuel injection eliminated vapor lock. Greatly reduce, sure. But to declare it impossible is rather ignorant.
It is nowhere near as common but still completely possible under certain circumstances.
for starters, a ton of the Jeep 4.0...
Completely ignore my dumb post above. I didn't set the timing in that shot so of course its not going to look right. :Boo:
If it runs fine until warm it sounds like there is a sensor issue somewhere. While cold it should be operating in closed loop mode ignoring the O2 sensors, only after the...
I did the whole aftermarket part thing and I have had way more trouble than it is worth. My father in law is a mobile mechanic and stopped using Autozone and only gets name brand parts because he was burred in warranty work form cheap parts that failed.
I had a ton of cooling issues on a 92...
ya, but yoyr pump still should have threads for a mechanical clutch fan. i thought about doing an electric conversion when this happened.
thats a good idea. this isnt the first time Rockauto has done this to me.
ya, the pumps are almost identical but the new one i got was cast iron, that...
The rear o2 sensors do not adjust the computer. the only thing a gutted cat will do is fail emissions due to CEL, its a go/no-go gauge.
Your computer relies on the front O2 sensors to make adjustments.
really odd about your timing going out of whack. Comparing it to my phasers your look to be...
the fuel efficiency of these things is quite impressive. I have been driving it for a week trying to finish off a tank of 87. My rural commute im averaging 16mpg and thats driving it HARD. I always calculate mpg by hand and compare it to the computer and its always been within .5mpg one way or...
You are exactly correct. I went down to the dealer and talked with a parts guy.
the 2009 shares parts with the 2010 model, the parts Rockauto sold me are for a 2008. they changed some things in late 2008 like the water pump.
or go all KYB, they are another good brand i have had great success.
Bilstein will give yoy a firmer ride if that is what you want. we have bad roads and washboard where we live so that a big no for us.
Looking into it more, some say there is a water pump with a 30mm hub, and a 36mm hub. I need the 30mm hub, and got a 36mm hub. All of the pumps on any site I have seen so far does not specify, except for the only Motorcraft one that exists which is a 36mm hub.
I will call the ford dealer...
I don't know what the hell is going on anymore. . . .
I have a ton of parts that i have been installing on my 09 Expedition and so far the fitment is crap.
The absolutely moronic lower radiator hoes with the ONLY not so quick disconnect fitting. The new Motorcraft hose of course will...
I have a set of KYB struts to put on.
Out of all the other brands, KYB has been the best ride and durability on all of my other vehicles. Bilstein was too stiff, Monroe was dead within a year, Rancho was bone jarringly bad.
Just to bring some more life into this thread.
I have a full Melling 3-391SCC kit. It comes with ratcheting cast iron tensioners so there is no longer any possibility for them to blow a seal, or get slack. Ratcheting tensioners are fine for this application. They are only an issue on high HP...
I know what one you are talking about but.
I actually think it is Dorman 800-040, taking the one whole one off there was no clip to pry up with a pick. It was a press it to release, or pry it with a pick to release. However I touched it and it broke.
Looking at the broken parts it looks...
I think I found how to remove the filter.
It looks identical to this but its blue.
It seems line the replacement fuel lines are not too expensive, just a pita to replace.
I might have found replacement clips

The dealer can tell if the ECU has been flashed either way, some don’t care, but just be aware they might try to make it an issue if you bring it in for warranty work and you flash it back to stock.
I think they moved to the in tank filter late 09, and I know for sure its in the tank for the 10s.
I will try and snap a picture. Everything under there is incredibly brittle and the other 2 clips were already broken and the PO had taped the retainers into place. . . . Now I need new fuel lines...
So I found the filter, I got 2 of the 3 lines off. The last line is the one that goes to the engine. It is held on with an odd blue clip and none of my fuel line removal tools work. Any idea how to manipulate this clip to get it off? I'm working in the dirt and stock height, so that's making it...
I'm mainly looking for the improved transmission tuning. Adjusted shift points, as well as firmer shifting. Currently it is slow to change gears and sluggish when it does. This thing drops it into 4th gear as fast as it can and then chugs right along. I would like to have a little more use out...
As the title states. They have what seems to be a good sale on a tune for the 05-14 Expedition, $270 for a programmer and 3 tunes. That's cheap enough I'm going to give it a shot. Everyone seems to be rather impressed with their 5.4 tunes from them so hopefully I didn't just throw money away...
My mpg gain was directly related to the fluid change, im at 185k and thats the first time i have changed them, bought used.
His might not be with only 50k.
Had an almost identical issue with my expy.
I took it to a shop and had them flush out the front dif. I dont think it has ever been changed, they said it was pretty bad.
Dif fluid is the most overlooked fluid on any vehicle from my experience.
I also had them suck out the old trans fluid...
As other have stated ceramic are factory on these so there wont be any insurance issues like that.
Also keep in mind that most modern vehicles are engineered to have adequate stopping performance with ceramic pads and they do a good job. But swapping in semi-metalic pads are a world of...
