This happened to me a couple years ago. Cruise was set and I started up an incline. The truck shifted out of overdrive while the CC was still set and instantly the truck went into limp mode. Disconnected and reconnected battery and its never happened since although I no longer leave the CC...
My Expy sputtered with no code until I pressed the accelerator to the floor...then the CEL lit. Ended up being a couple of spark plugs; I replaced all of them and the COP's while I was at it. 6 months, no issues.
Get your battery checked at an auto parts store (Autzone, Pepboys, CSK, etc...) I just bought an Autozone battery in June and the thing gave up the ghost about 3 weeks ago. It tested bad and they replaced under warranty.
I've had great luck with my 05 XLT. Well within your price range. The only issues I've had with the vehicle is a leaky injector; truck was out of warranty but was covered by Ford on a TSB and new spark plugs. Stock rotors warped...I've had them turned when I replaced the pads. Over-all, I...
I think the power diff comes from the fact that the 77 aluminum intake tube is a little smaller and has a little more restriction than the FIPK polyethylene intake tube.
I have the Daystar coils in the front. Thinking about ordering the Truxx 3" for the front and moving the Daystar coils to the rear. Anyone know if the Daystar's are interchangeable between front and rear?
Service Manager at the dealer suggested I finish what I had started as I had installed all new COP's but only new plugs on noted misfiring cylinders. Needless to say, after installing the rest of the spark plugs tonight, all issues have ceased. Thanks for the help ELVATO...I'll take heed to...
Cleared the codes and the battery was disconnected while I swapped everything out. 89,000 on original plugs. The misfire has gone to two separate cylinders in consecutive days with absolutely no change in hesitation. Still stuttering at identical RPM's / load. Feels exactly the same as it did...
Those are great tires! Had them installed on my company truck (4wd F-250 single cab diesel) last winter as we had a job up north. Drug a manlift / 375CFM compressor / one ton 2wd crew trucks and whatever else got stuck up some rediculous terrain in mud, snow and sideways rain :)
Screw it! Going to the dealer in the a.m. They can check specifically whether or not the injectors / plugs / coils are working properly or if its another issue (cam position sensor / crank sensor). I'll see what they have to say and I'll I take my next step. Anyone care to jump in with some...
Couple of pics of the original plug (#2 cylinder). Motorcraft Platinum. It's seen better days. Kinda funny, I went back to Checker to grab the other six plugs and the guy behind the counter got this funny look on his face. "Sir, you do know that the 2005 Expedition has EIGHT cylinders". "Yes...
Having a similar issue...try a can of Sea Foam to clean up fuel system. ELVATO mentioned in my thread that the wires to the injector / coil may be damaged. You may want to look into that.
Update...replaced spark plug in cylinder #2 per yesterday's CEL. No change, plug had signs of moisture and electrode was almost non existent. Stutter and hesitation still remains. Will change out the remaining plugs and see what happens...
Just an update...as of tonight, I'm now showing a misfire on #2. New plug going in tomorrow. Engine and temper need to cool down. Anyone have experience with a bad Cam Positioning Sensor? Apparently this may cause random misfire codes. Just a note two years ago I was having...
2005 with the 5.4...Had the failed coil pack stutter but couldn't get it to throw a code. Swapped out all 8 COP's and got on it last night. Stuttered at just under 3K RPM's and flashed a CEL. OBDII reader showed a misfire on #3. Changed plug on #3 and now the stutter at under 3K RPM's went...
I have a 2005 4X4. Looking for the Truxxx 3" / 2" lift kit or the Daystar kit for the rear only. Already have the Daystar kit for the front. Thanks, Mark
