    Loud strange, obnoxious grinding noise

food for thought- I have an 08 XLT 4wd. Same noise on curvy roads, usually during a downshift. and usually while on an incline. I thought hub, trans as well until the other day. It made the exact same noise directly after starting it, in park. I'm sort of leaning towards loose heat...

    Anyone have a Gibson catback?

When it comes to changing exhaust sytems, I think that most would be let down, unless you go the whole route. Flowmaster is the way to go. I was having this same debate when I was putting an exhaust on my Yukon. The guy (who had been doing it for 40 yrs) said that anytime someone would...

Sorry for the redundancy. I just read the reply above mine!

    What is this wiring connector?

I may be totally wrong, but I think you're referring to the fuel reset switch (kinda looks lika a round plug). Does it say fuel reset on the little door to the compartment you're talking about? My other thought is that it may be the subwoofer connection even if you don't have one, there is...

Got the sub and amp installed. Everything fits nice and snug and secure! I was able to mount the amp so I can make adjustments through the fuel reset door.

I'll check out the installation instructions, hopefully it's a seperate grille that mounts on the panel. Here's a shot during the day of the lights. They're still blinding if you look at them even in sunlight!

That's a great idea! My only concern with it is if the grille actually attaches to the sub. Most subs have a specific grille for their shape is what i'm finding... If it doesn't and is only tied to the panel and the sub rests behind it, then it would be perfect.

    06 Expedition Spark Plugs

spark plugs changed for 4-5-600 dollars??? does anybody else see anything wrong with this? I changed out the plugs in my Yukon in 30 minutes. None of them broke. Simple walk in the park. The plugs I got I believe were around 60.00 for the best ones that autozone stocked at the time...

Yea we were talking about that earlier in the thread. It would involve relocating the spare, but i'd definitely like the room for a couple of extra batteries. It'd be a great spot for valuables too, laptop ipad, camera equipment, etc.

So I did a temp wiring of the sub, and I have to say, it sounds great! Just enough bass. Not breaking windows or anything, but it really sounds nice. Now I just have to put it in place, secure it, wire it, hide the amp, hide the 4 channel amp, and find a nice beige grille to mount on the...

You can also go into "iphone app" mode and watch Netflix, Hulu, and use the slingplayer app on the go. Comcast in the car! And by on the go, I mean parked safely with the parking brake on of course ;)

I love it! The only negative I can see with it are glare, and even with the new "fast" software, it lags just a bit. Beside those 2 issues, it's amazing. DVD player and DVD out to any other monitor. Reverse cam hookup Bluetooth The Nav software is the best i've seen Ipod hookup...

Yea, i'm hoping that it sounds alright. The JL comes with a sub (I believe) that is the right size for the volume of the box, and it comes with mounting brackets that line right up with the truck. I'm really hesitant to break out the dremel and cut a giant circle in the panel before I...

The sub fits. Thank god! Where is the jack storage on yours? in the back cargo area, or in the side panel?

'98 4.6L leaking antifreeze in engine

I was once looking at a BMW that had a blown head gasket. I talked to my uncle, who is a mechanic, and he said even if you replace the heads and gasket there is a chance that the bearings were damaged with it running with a broken head gasket. The more time that it has been running damaged...

Working on a "stealth" box that will fit in the rear panel. It's under the 1 cu foot of air volume that they suggest for a closed box, but I think it'll sound fine. Sorry, got a bit messy with the glue trying to strengthen up the rounded piece that rides the wheel well...

    Newb here

Great looking truck! I once traded an 84 red Vette for a 95 contour so I know the feeling of losing power. Although i'd say you made a much better trade than I did :)

Anyone install a cargo area lock switch in their Expy?

I would think you could pop open either back door panel, splice into the lock switch, and run it to the back with a rocker pushbutton switch. I'm sure you could order a door switch from FORD and cut a hole in the back to fit it.

depending on the battery type, i'd definitely run at least a 12v computer fan in there. just to keep things cool and vented. If it's anything but a sealed battery, you definitely want to vent it outside especially knowing the fuel tank inlet is right there. If I was crazy, i'd pull the...

Second battery? In my opinion Capacitors are overrated. If you're doing a big time stereo, you might as well get a high output alternator to go with it. If you're running your stereo with the ignition off, then a second battery is a must, but a capacitor still doesnt do anything for you...

I ordered the 0 guage wire from Amazon, it's DB-link brand. I ordered 2 50' spools. Make sure you order the wire ends too. I think the ones I ordered were stinger? brand 0 guage terminals. If you have a vise and a torch and some solder, they work really well. (Not sure if thats the correct...
