Accel Supercoils in my truck and they run fine. Can't speak to longevity though, only been in there for about 6 months. As far as plugs, stick with Motorcraft.
Some leaks only open up when they are under pressure. Check it again after driving some and then letting the truck cool to truly eliminate the possibility of a leak.
Mine has had a singular knock for 60,000 miles and still runs, though it is getting worse. I use Lucas oil stabilizer with my oil changes and that does help. For some reason, one lifter is not getting oiled like the others. I have heard it in other 5.4's too but I have not torn my motor down...
If you have a dead miss (usually required for the CEL to come on) you would get some serious hesitation since the motor is only running on 7 cylinders with each cycle. Does the motor feel like its shaking when idling? My guess is that it is a plug/coil issue. If the answer to bedrck46's plug...
I did a trans flush fluid change at 200k due to the trans issue not shifting into drive and 30,000 miles later it is still running fine. The best shops still make mistakes. Its all about keeping the transmission cool. External trans cooler makes a world of difference.
Make sure there is no coolant leaking in the area. I don't think that issue covered any 2nd gens but it doesn't hurt to check. Still I would fault the plug too. That is the logical next step.
Is it 4WD? Looks kind of low in the front already, so if it is you should be able to crank the bars more. Then find some spacers with the height you want on ebay and put them in.
That stupid Bronco story fooled me too up until I read about the manual gearbox and diesel motor. I know the diesel has been talked about but you will never see a manual gearbox in a factory SUV again haha.
Hopped into my truck this weekend and my shifter had randomly become looser than it ever had. Like night and day difference. Barely could get it to accept park, let alone select reverse or drive. Found this video and thought I would post it in case others have a similar issue.
After...
Well he has to have something in there, otherwise it would just be sitting bottomed out all the time. Its possible he made it so that the airbags are constantly full but he has to have something in there to support the truck. The truck will ride like hell if you don't put coils in the air...
Straight piping will not help for two reasons. One is you won't keep your foot out of it, and the other is that the engine will have no back pressure and therefore low end torque will suffer. MPG's goes with that.
I would second the notion that O2's will go bad before they throw a code. My...
Bad O2's can read bad voltage (the way they communicate their data with the comp) without setting the CEL. They are not easy to change though, I've tried a couple of times and cannot break them loose.
Bad cats usually plug up, and so they restrict flow more. Very rarely does a cat blow apart.
Agreed, push the turn signal switch away from you to engage high beams, pull it towards you to return to normal. You can go from the middle beam position and pull it towards you to momentarily engage high beams until you release the stalk.
Honestly check to see if the turn signal stalk is...
I had the same issue and had to take it in a few times to get it right. The guy told me my truck had "memory steer" and I told him it had cock-eyed syndrome. He told me to put it where I wanted it to be straight so I did, and it came out perfect haha.
Like Ronald said, take it back and tell...
Not to mention getting around the gas tank on the driver side. I have seen duals run out before the rear wheel on the same side (a la Ford Lightning pickup) but I have to agree it looks shoddy and incomplete. I like symmetry though, so its either two pipes, with one out each side or no pipe at...
Well I have never done the swap, but it pretty much just comes down to math. Increasing the gear ratio means that you are increasing the RPM's needed to move the vehicle along at the same speed. Basically you gain low end acceleration at the cost of high end speed.
Assuming all conditions...
I have seen folks on here run 295's on the 3rd gens, and I have never seen them mention that the tires rub at full lock, but that does not mean they don't.
One thing I missed the first time around is that your truck is lifted. You might have clearance to put the pipe over the lower control arms, but you would have to do some measuring at full articulation to make sure there is no chance of the pipe getting smashed up.
Like Freeway said, you could...
I have heard that in order to do dual exhaust (one pipe out each side) you have to go underneath the suspension on the 2nd gens. Not a deal breaker, just pointing it out that if a shop says they won't do it, that is an option for them to try.
Most people have Flowmasters that I see. I like my...
Well if you are going that far, may as well do tie rod ends and the sway bar links. If you are looking for improved handling, etc. Helwig makes stiffer sway bars that help reduce body roll more than the current ones.
That's a bummer... Hopefully the fix is fairly straight-forward. I am looking at the same plan when my motor goes out. Buy a cheap truck and rebuild her at my own pace. Hopefully you don't have to pull it out of the truck though.
