Help! no crank, no start after a "hot soak"

Well I don't know of the A/C condensation issue with the old trucks but a very common issue on the 1st gens was that the windshield seal would fail allowing water to drip down to the GEM module and cause crazy electrical issues like my windshield wipers wiping whenever they want to. Replacing...

what are these two connector PHOTOS INSIDE

Honestly that second one looks like it would be a speaker plug just based on it only having two wires and them being purple and green. What I would try first (if you have not done this already) is a hard reset of the computer. Unhook the battery and turn the key so that all power is drained...

Help! no crank, no start after a "hot soak"

Well water and electrical never play nice so the first thing I would do is stop the water. If it is just condensation from a pipe, you might need to wrap it, but finding and reaching it can be tricky. If there is a leak in the body paneling or an air vent, or the windshield seal, then you...

what are these two connector PHOTOS INSIDE

Just in case you wanted to see where it was supposed to be. Mine is also unplugged. I agree it's the trailer brake control plug. Sorry it's not the best picture but the plug on the right is the same one as the one you posted. Sent from the Pocket Computer

what are these two connector PHOTOS INSIDE

I've got class till around noon but after that I'll go crawl under the dash and see if I can find them. Sometimes they use a generic harness with features that are not included on every model, so the plugs are just not used. Anything not work in your truck? Light, radio display, odometer, etc.

Transfer Case Fluid gushed out when top plug removed

That is odd. But you can't really fill it up any higher than the fill hole anyways so I wouldn't worry too much about it. They might have just filled them as much as possible before installation at the factory, not expecting anyone to take the top plug out first. Though it makes sense to let...

    99 Expedition engine rebuild

All depends what comes out of the crate. If it is a 3v 5.4 with the variable cam timing, I would avoid that like the plague since those cam phasers fail after 60-100k and cause problems. The older motors will run forever though. 235k on mine, 260k on my aunt's 98 expy (both 5.4's), and just...

Gunk around spark plug..can't remove it

What he said. I tried a can of compressed air and it wasn't powerful enough, have to use an air compressor to blow that crap out of there.

    Replacing door-jamb switch. Help needed.

They make small ratcheting wrenches that are completely flat (Box Wrenches | MSCDirect.com) Would that help at all? I have worked in the door but never done the door jamb switch and I know how tight space is in there. If you do use one of those, tie a string to it first!

Ford F150 & Expedition Front Hub and Bearing Replacement

I agree with Roots, I have had several bearings fail on my truck, our 04 expy, and a couple of extended family Explorers. Each one I diagnosed by the rhythmic hum that you hear at freeway speeds.

Just out of curiosity, does the issue happen when not using the air conditioning?

    power loss

Was this issue the reason the fuel pump was replaced or did it appear after doing the fuel pump?

    Need help

Rockauto is good. Go with moog parts. They cost a little more but if you're going to keep the truck around they are worth having the extra beef. Only special tools I needed was a ball joint press which I rented for free from o'reilly. Air tools obviously make things easier but are not...

    Need help

If they have no grease fittings, they are probably original and need to be replaced. Lower ball joints can be done without an alignment and tend to be the squeakers. Uppers and tie rods should be done together so you only need to get it aligned once. Mine lasted to 160k so you definitely got...

    1998 4.6 concerns

There is an axle code on the door placard (drivers door) that would tell you the axle ratio. H6 is 3.73 LSD and H9 is 3.55 LSD. If it's anything else google will be able to tell you Sent from the Pocket Computer

my 2002 EB is toast. =(

Holy moly that makes my heart cry... I have a bad feeling my truck will end up being the same. When I find a replacement I am going to gut it to see if it's worth putting effort into or not. Sorry to hear of your truck but 1st gens are dirt cheap and you could get another one for next to...

    Regular or Premium

Just because the octane fuel changes doesn't mean the motor will automatically change it's timing. The only time it changes timing is if it detects knock, and then it will retard instead of advance. The timing is set somewhere around 10 degrees advance to meet fuel efficiency and smog...

    Regular or Premium

Google would have all of the proof you need. Higher octane is designed to allow for higher compression motors to run without early detonation. If you increase octane without increasing compression, no more power is made. Stick with 87. Sent from the Pocket Computer

Jack stand placement when doing brakes

I usually use the diff to get it high enough and set it on stands as well. I agree, they say that just to keep liability off of them. Never had issues.

97 expy 4.6 random one off misfire 287k

Nice thank you sir. I would check fuel pressure using a FP gauge. You can rent one for free at most auto parts stores. If the fuel pump is original it is very possible the engine gets fuel starved when it's under a big load. I don't know what the pressure range is for the 4.6 but I will try and...

    Fuel filter location

The code to the keyless entry is typically in the owners manual somewhere. Fuel filter should be along the inside of one of the frame rails in the middle of the truck. Follow the fuel lines from the gas tank towards the front and you'll find it. You need a special fuel filter disconnect tool...

97 expy 4.6 random one off misfire 287k

Did you replace the wires when you did plugs? It sounds like either no spark, or a lean fuel mixture. Clogged fuel filter and failing fuel pump could cause that too. With that mileage, it could be all sorts of things. What do you know has been replaced other than the plugs and non-engine related...
