Hey all, I have a standard length expedition with bucket seats, two kids, one in a booster and one rear facing and likely another on the way at the end of the year.
Curious what others do with 3 kids… Embrace the shorter length and easier parking and get a rooftop carrier for long trips or suck...
For the OP, wouldn't really fret about the cam phasers or wastegate rattle as long as you purchase a Ford extended warranty. I had my 2019 Expedition cam phasers swapped out and it still rattles for a minute or two on cold start up but they say it’s normal and not to worry so since I’m covered...
Thanks for the info everyone. I’m having a few dealers price out the trade in value of my Expedition. If they all low ball me so they can make huge profits on the resale them I’m not even entertaining this trade.
It sounds like some love the Navigator and think it’s a good upgrade while others...
I appreciate the info and agree the Expedition is a great value play, especially when bought a few years used (prior to these inflated prices).
I have the Limited 302a so most of the Platinum features minus the leather upgrade and a few things but I don’t think it would be worth me upgrading...
Latch has its weight limits so any car seat, convertible or booster, then requires install with the seatbelt.
The Britax Boulevard Clicktight which we own for example cannot be used with an inflatable seatbelt according to Britax and Chico says not products can and we own two of their...
It’s interesting that professional reviews are so positive and many find some major faults.
The airbag seatbelts could definitely be an issue as we have a 2 and 5 year old and another on the way so we’ll be needing a variety of car seats.
See, this is what I like to hear!
I somewhat need to be convinced here to make this upgrade. @Deadman definitely isn't trying to convince me haha.
Roadtrips is where the expedition disappoints me a little. It's nice for around town, handles nice enough, can toss my kids stuff in and out...
haha well damn, it's too bad your Navi is having so many problems otherwise I'd say let's trade!
The seats and a better suspension would make it worthwhile for me. The iPad like screen is pretty obnoxious, I think the new models will be even worse unfortunately with a big vertical screen...
I do like the stealthy aspect of the Expy but I also do live in “that town” where a Navigator isn’t anything special and is a dime a dozen.
Cant say out in the burbs I valet a whole lot but in the city I could see that being painful.
I guess I’m asking the wrong crowd about the upgrade since...
Yup, the captains chairs with the center console aren't exactly kid friendly for families with 3 kids or more! I did notice the Reserve package seems to have a handful with captains chairs and no center console, that's what I'd be after.
@Deadman I know what you mean about buying inflated. Had...
Yes, I’d have to hold out for a good deal on the Navi (few and far between but they exist) and then negotiate the trade in. I have a dollar in mind that makes the trade worthwhile and if that can’t be achieved then it’s a no go.
I always like to approach anything in sales with the approach of...
Thanks @grumpyoleman that’s exactly the type of info I’m looking for!
I get the ride and power might differ a little but for me it’s about owning the car for a while and loving it. I really like my Expedition but the interior is meh since I’m coming from smaller vehicles but more upscale...
Yes, the Select and Premier packages they offered originally were sad for the price, huge rip off. Reserve is the value for the used market right now with all the options we have in our Expy’s and more.
I know they’re basically the same cars but would be nice to cash in on the appreciation of...
Jumping on the train of HD Tow and locker if you think you might want or need it.
The 2020 Special Edition and Stealth Edition include this combo, just look for the black wheels if shopping online.
As for the “reliability” issue of it, just spend $2500ish on a 125k mile bumper to bumper...
I bought a 2019 CPO Expedition Special Edition in October and even with throwing on 8k miles KBB is saying my car has appreciated due to this crazy car market.
I want to bite the bullet and make the jump to the car I was really wanting to get previously but didn’t want to spend the cash.
Has...
I had my phasers replaced on my Expedtion and it came back still rattling haha.
I just don’t even care anymore. When I go in next I’ll tell them again to REPLACE the turbos and they’ll probably deny me again but I’ve learned to deal with the 60 seconds of rattle.
I have lifetime powertrain...
My cam phasers were replaced a handful of months ago and since then my rattling has actually gotten worse so I’m confident it’s my turbos not cam phasers.
Lots of posts in this subject but yes, cam phasers is always their first repair under warranty then if you’re lucky they replace turbos.
Luis - I’m looking at the exact same site and product. I’m thinking I’ll buy it now and wait a little longer for my current pads and rotors to wear bit more.
I have 33k miles on the car (bought with 27k miles) and still somehow plenty of pad wear left but I’m ready for swap for something...
Would you say the stopping power and overall feel are improved with the pad upgrade?
I’ve never replaced pads with anything other than OEM. I’m looking for more prompt braking action instead of the immense amount of travel before braking is initiated but also just want more confidence and...
