No. Have not had time. Believe it is bad valve guide. May pull valve cover just to verify its not a rocker or lash adjuster. If not will pull motor and go through it. Have heads sent to machine shop for new valve guides and likely have larger exhaust valves installed. If it comes out I plan...
One thing I did not consider is while in drive (3rd with 4 speed) there is no gear reduction or overdrive. The input shaft is locked to the output shaft for a 1 to 1 ratio. In overdrive the output shaft is spinning faster than the input shaft thus it can potentially create more heat depending...
I got mine from pmt. Thought there were of very good quality.

I have always used overdrive while towing as per the manual. Only if it would start to hunt or going down steep declines do I turn it off.
Not sure how overdrive would create extra heat unless the converter was unlocked and slipping. But our torque converters are generally locked except in...
I actually cut though the nut, bolt and all right on the outside of the bracket. Did not remove nut first.. It was then just short enough to push out towards the fuel tank.
I used a portable band saw I happen to have and just cut the bolt off. I believe others have used angle grinder. I did not have to remove fuel tank. Re-installed bolt from opposite side.
Your Expy is up down side!! lol.
I agree with the above... torque converter or tranny pump. Can you crawl under the vehicle to tell exactly where the sound is coming from. If from the bell housing it likely one or the other.
If you have the 4r100 it should. Same tranny but the internals are different. Lightning uses stronger internal components for the increased torque.
But you do need to use your stock pcm with the 4wd.
I have disconnected injector from the misc cylinders on that side. No change.
I listen with a mechanics stethoscope at all areas for signs of timing chain tensioner/guides failure, lash adjuster, rocker arm, flexplate, rods, etc.... I really could not pinpoint it to any one item. It is most...
Update!
Well... do have back up vehicle now. :)
Did some extensive listening to the tick and cannot easily pinpoint it. My best guess is it is coming from the #5 exhaust valve. Before I start pulling it apart called my original tuner to have a look. JJ with Woodbine Motorsports! Figure...
If you have 2wd I believe it can be done but it would be more ideal if you had the lightning transmission as well.
There may be minor differences a custom tune could account for. You will have to change the fuel pump, install heat exchanger, etc.....
If you have 4wd you need to use your...
