    2003 expedition Eddie Bauer

A temporary fix till you find the offending circuit would be to disconnect the battery whenever you park for a given amount of time and reconnect before leaving. (Only one terminal necessary) This is inconvenient of course but not to difficult to do. It will keep your battery from dying due to...

Trace amounts of oil in coolant... but no coolant in oil...Heads redone..Help!

I would like to point out that when I did my engine swap that I flushed both the rear and front heater cores at the time while the lines were readily accessible. I was surprised at how long it took for the water to come out clear, specially from the rear core due to the length of the lines...

Parallel. The rear heater core T's off on both the supply and return line under the hood.

    erroneous oil dip stick readings

I tend to believe he has the incorrect dipstick, or replacement tube for that matter, for his model expy and a faulty gauge / sensor. With oil pressure problems or gummed up passages I would have suspected lash adjusters bleed down or chain tensioner issues which should have caused a variety...

Your rear defroster will not work then but is is not likely a load on the system. Something is drawing significant load after you shut down which is draining the battery. You need to locate this "mystery" load.

Bah Humbug!! lol.. Call me weird, but I actually prefer the cloth seats. Seem to hold up better over time.

Anyone try a performance chip in their Expy?

BS!! Do not know the specifics on any one but in the past this was a common "performance mod" that floated around on the internet you could do your self by adding a resistor to the engine coolant temp or intake air temp readings to fool the pcm into thinking is was colder than it actually is...

    Expy died on me today!

She is back up and running!! :big_banana_Dance: SuperExpy.... you are really going to enjoy these photos.. The plug/connector supplied with the Aeromotive fuel pump failed. The ground wire was obviously loose inside and burned up the connector, some of the wire, and fuel pump connection...

    liquid refrigerant

HowStuffWorks "How is Freon utilized in air conditioning?" Its basically a gas at atmospheric pressure, but under high pressure as it cools it turns to a liquid. If you vent it from the lines it comes out as a gas straight to the ozone layer  along with some liquid refrigerant oil and...

    Performance Mass Air Flow Sensors?

They do sell "stock replacement" after market meters that are OE exempt. Your statement is of course true if you get a recalibrated aftermarket meter. Didn't even catch this reading it the first time. Yep.... with a breather your introducing a vacuum leak. Removing the pcv valve will eliminate...

    Performance Mass Air Flow Sensors?

I agree with nonwoven. A mass air meter is a waste unless you need it for tuning purposes. IE you max out your stock meter and need more range. What they are trying to sell you is a "larger" mass air meter with the theory bigger is better that most tend to buy into. Much experience over the...

    Coolant temp. sensor location

If I were to guess I would say the non-pi heads / intake have sensor in the intake coolant passage as well but the PI heads / intake only have a single CHT temp sensor in the head. That or it is purely model year related. My 2000 only has the CHT sensor and it is under the intake, drivers side...

    Coolant temp. sensor location

On my 2000 in is in the drivers side head under the intake manifold and its a dry port. No direct contact with the coolant. I don't recall any other coolant temp sensors when I swapped the motor so my guess is the gauge gets its info from the pcm. I do know they vary by model year though...

    erroneous oil dip stick readings

My guess would be it's a faulty gauge / sensor or you should have engine noise associated with it if you drove a few blocks.

    Fuel pick up problem

That's what I was trying to say but if memory serves it's still 6-12" from the end. My Stealth 340 lph pump just failed and received replacement from ups today. So maybe I will take photos or video this time when I replace it?! Hope the weather cooperates.

DANGIT! How long is it safe to drive with a tiny heater core leak?

You can try these temporarily?! S & G Tool Aid 19780 Hose Clamp Pinching Pliers Set - Amazon.com I have used them with my boat but never on the expy. I think fogging up you windows will be you biggest concern running like that. Make sure your coolant is topped off and doesn't get low.

    Fuel pick up problem

The fuel tank is not well baffled and the sump is not very deep. The sump is towards the rear so a slight incline or during acceleration is the best chance for it to be covered. During braking or going down hill it would not be difficult for the remaining fuel to flow towards the front of the...

    Superduty Axle swap

Sounds like you have major plans for your expy! You really need to speak with samrider because as far as I know he is the only one here that has done a leaf spring conversion with the front suspension.
