    Cannot Get Engine to Crank

Try rotating the crank a full 720 degrees. This equals one revolution for the cams! If a valve got bent due to piston to valve contact you may need to rotate two revolutions of the crank for the cam to act upon it.

    Cannot Get Engine to Crank

If the cams were mis-timed yes you can have piston to valve contact. But you said it ran for some time!? This makes it less likely though with the variable valve timing there is the possibility it was off a tooth or two and till the cam was advanced or retarded then contact happened?! In...

    Cannot Get Engine to Crank

Engine partial rotation followed by clicking starter solenoid is typically a sign of a dead battery. As far as the loss of oil pressure that obviously is never a good thing. Bearings, cylinder walls, valves, etc... all are subject to damage. If you truly lost all oil pressure depending on...

    constant misfire and ticking

Can you post video?? Ticking can be exhaust manifold leak. Have you checked to make sure a spark plug is not loose and ready to eject?? Possibly a bad injector / poor spray pattern causing rich condition or bad O2 sensor?? You might read the plugs to check for anything obvious. Just to...

    Expy died on me today!

I will certainly check the connections when I go to replace the pump. But I am pretty anal about making sure all connectors are tight. I let my expy warm up earlier in the week due to extreme cold temps. I noticed as I was returning to it to leave that the pump was whining noticable. We know...

    Expy died on me today!

Was on my way to work out and was giving it some gas and felt it miss/sputter accompanied by wildly fluctuating air/fuel ratio?! Then it was normal. Was then stopped at a traffic light and a bit nervous why it may have occurred but appeared ok now. Drive about a 1/4 mile down the road and all...

    1998 pcm?

98 - piston 10.49cc dish, non-pi heads 51cc combustion chamber 99 - piston 18.10cc dish, PI heads 42cc combustion chamber So yes 98 pistons with PI heads does raise the compression to near 10 to 1. With the PI swap you would see slightly better power than the rated 260 hp for 99 and up 5.4 2v...

    Oil leak

Standing oil in the valley can easily be oil that did not make it into the fill tube when oil was added or changed. The valley really does not drain so.... You would have to clean it really well and water will evaporate. Then you can monitor, if it does indeed leak, where it may be coming...

    97 xlt brake issue update

The rear brakes will always lock up first assuming the antilock function is disabled. The weight transfers to the front during braking, how much depends on how hard you brake. The front also has more weight on it than the rear normally. The fact that your rear brakes locked up during your...

    Supercharging my 05' 5.4L 3V

Whipple 2.3 moves more air than an Eaton 1.8, capable of more boost and its more efficient. No question I want one. I would be pushing 600+ rwhp if I had one.:party36:

    Supercharging my 05' 5.4L 3V

05 3v Expeditions have several supercharger kits readily available. The lightning intake is set up for 2v PI heads so it will not mate with the 3V heads. While an adapter plate can likely be made since they are both 5.4 I doubt any exist since supercharger kits already exist!? Don't think...

    Superchargers

Just to be clear, daoud has completed the lightning conversion himself as well. But as he said himself he did it with a 5.4 expedition donor drivetrain. I think he had every intention to install the lightning setup on the 4.6 and believed it was possible though it obviously never happened.

    Please help!!!

I personally have not done one myself but several others here have. Hopefully they will speak up when they see the thread. If you want to repair it yourself you need to purchase, rent or borrow the kit to install the thread insert. It can be done without removing the heads but can't speak...

    16yo Expeditioner here!

If you decide to wash your engine be aware that in most cases the cop boots will leak water into the plug well and you will have a misfire. If you wash it I would suggest removing the cops afterwards and using compressed air to blow out the plug wells. Not an easy task to access all of them...
