It appears you have zero rust where mine is the worst. On the body sheetmetal! My frame has minor surface rust but the undercarriage of the body is horrible.
Recirculating ball steering certainly doesn't help. Very little feed back and much less precise vs rack and pinion.
That said my expy runs pretty straight but it can wander based on road conditions. Compared to my Sho the steering is definitely lacking.
That would explain your comment in post 30. I would not expect the tach to drop to zero instantly and recover. Considered commenting on that fact but did not. If the pcm was sent inaccurate or zero info on the crankshafts relative position the tach reading would make perfect sense. Hmmm...
Sounding more and more electrical related as far as random shutdown. That can be difficult to locate as it can be at any number of locations. Though closing throttle stall still sounds like minimum airflow to me?! Did you check the throttle body for buildup around throttle plate. (Can...
Was not trying to be insulting to the op but thought I should cover all bases. Who knows it may not be easily visible?
Mine will stall before I get anywhere near zero fuel pressure but she is very thirsty. Much larger injectors, etc..... I also have a fuel pressure gauge installed so its...
I can't see how she would keep running with zero fuel pressure but I could be wrong..
I would inspect the Schroeder valve carefully with flashlight and your gauge to insure it can fully depress it and make sure there is not some problem there.
Without some reading its hard to know...
My guess is the schroeder valve is not working correctly or your gauge is not depressing it fully. It cannot run with out fuel pressure or the engine would receive no fuel. Stupid question but you did remove the cap??
When I had pats disable the engine I still had adequate fuel pressure. It either cuts injectors, ignition or both.
When yours shuts down is it always at closed throttle and if so is it immediately after you close it??
That's how I was reading your first few post. That's what led me to...
How are you checking fuel pressure??
It will not run without fuel pressure. If you turn key to run position without starting fuel pump will run appr. 2 seconds to build up pressure and stop. The fuel pump only keeps running while engine is running.
On new oem coils I have purchased there is no such end, it is just the spring. Same if I remember correctly on my taurus sho and it still had original plugs installed. Until I saw this video never knew those existed. I would say you are fine.
Bank one is also the passenger side for your...
3rd gens come with skid plates on the fuel tank?
My first gen did not. Well...it does have plastic cover that I don't think would have helped much given the OP's situation.
Seriously though.... not sure if this is a question or not. A little more detail may help others to diagnose if it is.
Your expedition has an ignition miss or is stumbling at low rpms??
Vacuum leak, spark plug bad or excessive gap, bad coil, water in plug well are a few common items to check.
:welcome:
Let's see some photos!
I used express paint on my 2000 and it matched very well.

Half shafts look normal to me. But can't really see if there may be an issue inside the CV joints unless a boot is ripped or twisted.
4HI or 4Low on the street will bind up the drivetrain. (For offroad or low traction conditions only) It sounds as if something mechanical is giving/slipping in...
