fuel pump issue- would you agree?

That would explain your comment in post 30. I would not expect the tach to drop to zero instantly and recover. Considered commenting on that fact but did not. If the pcm was sent inaccurate or zero info on the crankshafts relative position the tach reading would make perfect sense. Hmmm.

Still odd with the timing that it would stall upon closing the throttle but anyways....

Sounds like you found it. Congrats!

Tom, I think it was prevalent as I was closing the throttle as much as it only happened when it was very hot during the day as the truck was running a lot hotter and may affect the sensor being that it is an electrode with a bunch of copper wire wrapped around it so with the sudden drop of RPM"S maybe it needed a stronger signal???

Also what lead me to the fuel pump initially is one of the times it died I whacked the tank and then it started so now I know it was just a coincidence-
So a cam or crank position sensor cost me a new fuel pump, new tank straps, dropping the tank on my back on the ground, new IAC, etc etc etc-
Damn I wish it would have thrown a code right away!! lol
