So I put everything back together over the weekend and now I have 3-4 injectors that are not firing. I'm pretty positive I plugged all my connections back in properly. Does any one have the location of all the connectors for the fuel injector wiring harness. I'm going to check for an open...
I was back at it last night. I was cleaning out all the debris from the valley. I have been de-greasing the intake, from all the years of neglect. Cleaning all the intake ports with intake cleaner. (Note to self. Get more cans of intake cleaner.) I was also able to lay the new gasket on the...
Oh, I can touch the heads without removing them. I wont be able to do the combustion chambers or the exhaust. But every little bit counts.
BrandonB,
Thats what I thought the black plastic was. Yeah, it wasn't long for this world it seems. It appears it made a good nest for some small critter...
Worked on it again tonight. Pulled the intake off. I found thick plastic in the bottom of the valley under the intake. It was all broken and shattered looking. Did these intake have a heat shield of sorts to prevent heat soak? In any event, I have some work to do. I need to get it all cleaned...
You could have a gasket issue. Use intake cleaner and spray it along the gasket area between the intake and head. If the engine RPM changes, then you've found it!
I would start checking for vacuum leaks around the intake. Look at all your hoses. In-particularly the ones at the back of the intake. I dont want to send you in the wrong direction on the exhaust stud. Also, what 45 degree elbow?
Last night I spent an hour working on removing the intake. I'm down to the last two bolts at the far back and the intake will come off. In the process one of the vacuum tubes for the EGR Pressure sensor broke off as I grabbed the rubber line to remove it. I think it was cracked already because...
So here's an update. I have an all aluminum intake. So that rules out the leak between the plastic and aluminum cross over. I watched it run, but not all the way until it was hot. So the upper hose could be leaking, or the gasket for the thermostat. It could still be the intake gasket at the...
I started having a mis-fire Sunday in cyl #5. Pulled the spark plug out and the boot was wet with coolant half way up. I pulled the plug cleaned out the hole. Re-installed the plug and it fired fine for about 5 min. Then stated mis-firing again. I'm thinking its a intake gasket leaking coolant...
Quick question. On the front axle vacuum actuator for the four wheel drive. What position is locked for the front axle? As in the shafts are connected to run four wheel drive. I think my actuator is stuck in four wheel drive and causing my MPG drop.
Yes, check your front diff fluid. Sounds like you have a bad input shaft seal. Replace the seal, top it off and try again. Also inspect the CV joints from the front diff for play by grabbing the shaft portion and trying to move it around. If it moves noticeably in and direction then replace the...
Does it happen to be raining or having had rained in the past day when this happens? If so it sounds like you have a windshield leak and its allowing the GEM module to get wet making your gauges go all wonky. Common problem. If your windshield is good I have had shops tell me they can re-seal...
When I hear water under the dash it means my coolant is low. Does it only happen when you accelerate or really get on the gas? If so then I would top off your coolant and give it time to purge the air bubbles in your cooling system.
Mine didn't have them. Its a 4x4 to boot! Couldn't believe it. I got mine for free off a F-350. Guy pulled his off and was local so I stopped by and he gave them to me! I'd say check around on some F-series truck sites and see if anyone local to you is getting rid of theirs.
I pull a 26ft Wilderness camper, and let me say the two best improvements to my towing experience were "C" load rated tires and a sway control. Before those two it was white knuckle driving on the expressway. After those two items it was one hand on the wheel and easily towing at 70mph.
Front and rear have their own cores. They are fed from the same plumbing. If you pop your hood and look on the passengers side. There's a rubber hose "T" that comes from the engine and feed the heater core for the front on the firewall. Then two lines go to the bottom of the engine compartment...
Its either the blend doors or its the heater cores. This has been gone over many times here. I have to flush my cooling system again because a vane from the water pump disintegrated and clogged my heater cores. When you flush them, use either white vinegar or buy a heater core flush from a parts...
