I think the pump seal blew out

I'll check that out. I think the drain plug could have come out of the troque converter. I heard something rattling around in there. We'll see what turns up when I pop off the inspection plate.

I think the pump seal blew out

I guess the question is this. If I go so far as pullling the trans to replace the pump seal, should I just rebuild it? The cost would be about $500 to rebuild it compared to the cost of the new seal at $10. The trans also has 243k miles on it and I tow with it. So I think yes I should.

I think the pump seal blew out

Driving home today and the trans started kicking out. Made it home and looked underneath the Expy to find the bottom of the trans and transfer case soaked with trans fluid. It was hard to see if the top was soaked as well, but it didnt look like it. Soooo, it looks like I'll be pulling the trans...

    New happy owner. Need advice

No problems with a Navi here! If you want it to ride like new when you're done then you need to replace all the joints and steering with new. When replacing the rear control arms dont get factory replacements, get something like this 1997 Ford Expedition Navigator Rear Control Trailing Arms with...

    2001 5.4 Expy Muffler replace

My recommendation is a Dynomax Ultraflow muffler. Louder than stock, but excelent flow through and not so loud with droning and all the negative stuff like that.

Why can't my Expy stop like a Chevy?? Booster issue?

I I'm sorry to read that. You should sell your Ford and go buy a Chevy. Then you can always have a new one. Seeing as they need to be replaced every 70k miles or so. Its like changing your oil.

It hangs from a crossmember on the frame and its what delivers the hydraulic pressure from the MC to the rear axle divider. Its the flexible part.

Why can't my Expy stop like a Chevy?? Booster issue?

That is a good point, rubber lines over time degrade the pedal feel and effort. Find some steel reinforced replacements and that will help pedal feel and braking effort.

    Replacing rear brakes & rotors

A little tip for next time to save you from possibly tearing up the piston on the caliper. Use the old pad between the piston and "c" clamp. It will help it push evenly and avoid damaging the piston. Great write up!

    please help brake issues

I just thought about this, but if all those items clear inspection. Check the master cylinder and make sure its sending pressure to the rear feed. If not, that pop you heard was the piston or seal in the master cylinder giving out. Not common at all, but I had one vehicle that happened on. It...

    please help brake issues

Its time to pull the rear tires off and inspect the calipers for the rear brakes. Something let loose, and its releasing pressure causing the pedal to go to the floor. Did you check the rubber line that drops down to the the axle? Its toward the center of the truck over the rear axle. Also what...

Can anyone help me with this?

It could be that it makes a quiter driveshaft and its a smoother power transfer when working properly.

    Adding on board air

I'm working on a new storage compartment that will be on the same side as the compressor, but toward the front of that cover panel. I'm going to make a door and store my tools / air line in there for easy access.

    please help brake issues

You broke a line going to the rear brakes. If you want to fix it get a flaring tool and reuse the connectors from the old line. They're special and I couldnt find them in the aftermarket. Buy a section of metal tubing the same diameter and splice it in for as much as looks corroded. Also check...

Sound like the shifter cable isnt pushing the shift bracket on the trans all the way to park. Adjust the cable and go from there.
