That is called the track bar and it should not be bent. Makes sense that it is since you took a hit in that tire. You should get a replacement at a junk yard or try Rock auto. That should make the alignment off. Replace it and it should help it drive like it's supposed to.
You are correct. It needs to be sealed from the engine bay. Any heat from the motor getting into the intake air corrupts any power gains you may get. I believe in doing the Gotts mod with a low restriction air filter like a K&N oiled filter. Now with that being said, make sure you clean the MAF...
I don't totally agree Stamp. Every little bit helps. These motors are not like the older Ford motors that sacrifice low end torque for more HP at a higher RPM with intake mods like this. It has been shown on the dyno that the more air you give the 4.6L or the 5.4L for that matter, the more HP...
The axle shaft bearing and yes you will need to refill the rear diff. Plus you will need the friction modifier from Ford. Since its a limited slip diff. . I think it's one and a half bottles per refill. It gives how much to mix per quart on he bottle.
The motor is back in and running very well! I am really impressed with how well it runs. Here are a few tips from my engine swap. Change the O2 sensors when you pull the motor out. It's so easy to get to them at that point. Always chase the intake bolt threads before re-assembly. It is very...
The motor is out. It can be difficult to pull. The intake has to come off. You need to have a load leveler. Mount it as close the to the intake mounting surface on the heads as you can. Lift the engine and separate it from the trans with a pry bar. Tilt the front of the engine slightly up to...
I tried that as well. The heat shields for the cats were in the way. I couldn't get it to fit into place square on the bolt. The shallow well socket and swivel were too long and kept hitting the fire wall keeping it off square. Hey for $20 that socket set is the cats meow!
So after quite a few set backs I have some advise. You need a wrench like this if you want to remove the top two bolts from the trans to motor bolting. Tried to get a open end box end wrench in there and no luck. Bought this set from Harbor freight and had both bolts out in 10 minutes.
Welcome to the forum! That is one of the most interesting color combos I have ever seen. To answer your questions I will try to keep them in order.
F150 and Expedition front bench is the same as far as I know.
I am certain someone has run a dual in dual out muffler. Just have a shop weld the...
Tonight I pulled the intake, water pump, fuel rail and injectors. Cleaned out the valley under the intake. Pulled my expy into the car port and pulled the hood, intake tube and front cover. Tomorrow will be draining the fluids, pulling the intake on the old motor and breaking loose bolts.
Or it could mean that there's a time difference between the sensor and the intrument panel so it's sending the signal to the past! Or the future! Then again...probably not.
