The power is coming from the little white plug. It's a relatively small wire that runs from the box, under the passenger seat, and into a bundle of wires near the front passenger floor access panel (see picture). At first I thought maybe the box you have went to the overhead DVD screen, rather...
I actually installed the factory headrest DVD players in my 2014 Expedition a couple of weeks ago. That box, with the plug in question, does not look familiar. Here is the "factory" box from my install (pictured).
Our local credit union sells extended warranties at a fraction of the dealer cost, and we've never had a coverage issue with them. We had over $13k in repairs on our Mercedes, and everything was approved, from replacing the power steering gear box ($951), to fixing the rear electric seat motor...
I agree that people should buy the vehicle they want for the price that fits. That said, I’m not sure what’s so absurd about Adieu’s comments. Obviously the older style will be a factor in the next few years should someone wish to sell or trade-in. Look at the Explorer values from 2010 to...
Immediately after starting, our 2014 makes a woosh / thud type noise (I believe those are the technical terms). Almost like something is engaging, though it's still in park. Its always done it, and my 06 made the exact same noise. I've always ignored it, because the dealer gave the usual...
My 06 expedition had a similar switch in about that location, but I think it was on the other side. It was installed to allow the aftermarket radio / head unit to play dvds when the car was not in park.
Just curious, what can / will you use the 2nd battery for? Is it connected to an inverter? Is there any impact on the charging system, or can you just keep everything else stock? That's a great idea, looks good.
I bought the head unit and wiring harness from infotainment.com. They sell factory equipment and everything you need to install them. It's pricey, but cheaper than if we had added it as an option when the vehicle was new. (We bought it CPO though). The "factory" DVD headrests were purchased...
I'm just guessing on the year you have (16/17), but try this: http://www.infotainment.com/collections/all/2016-ford-expedition. They sell the radio (or you can check e-bay), and the wiring harness. I used them to change my factory radio to a factory Nav head unit on our 2014 expy. Looks great...
That's great, thanks for posting the pics. It looks a bit tight, but as long as it works, that's all that matters. Can't wait to be able to turn my 1 year old aroung to forward facing, will be nice to be able to see her while we drive. I'm constantly asking my other child to check on her for me.
Appreciate the info! I can't imagine going 12k miles between changes either, but I'm sure plenty of folks do. Seems like a recipe for disaster down the road (literally). Also, do you guys use Lucas Oil fuel treatment, if so, how often? Do you notice a difference? Where is the cheapest place...
This is an awesome thread and I've learned a lot. We have a 2014 5.4 w/ almost 55k. I use Mobil 1 synthetic 5w-30 and a Motorcraft filter. I was planning to switch to Mobil 1 filter at next oil change as well, but may stick with Motorcraft.
I've notice that a lot of people are using...
Keep us posted, I'm interested to see what happens with the dealership. How many miles does the warranty company cover? Fiver years is good, but what's the actually mileage limit?
It actually sounds great! I was somewhat surprised since I didn't put in new speakers. I did have to install the "Ford" amp that came with it though, so maybe that's why. The bass is about the same, but the treble sounds better and it's clearer.
I'm not exactly sure. It just says "Ford" when you turn it on. There is a youtube video that shows the radio installation and it says "Ford Clarion", but I didn't see that name anywhere else.
Over the last week I've added factory DVD headrests as well as a factory head unit / radio. I'm using the term "factory" to mean OEM devices that could have come as an option originally, but I paid a lot less installing it, compared to what it would have cost to add it to a new vehicle. That's...
Has anyone had three car seats in the 2nd row? How well do they fit? If you have two in the middle (one on each side) how difficult is it to get to the 3rd row?
The vehicle reviews in Consumer Reports are probably questionable at best, and have been for years. They often site a model year with a specific problem, such as engine or electrical, but the prior year and the year after are fine, even though the manufacturer didn't change anything. The best...
