Msgtdan,
I don't have a picture, but I would guess it's going to be similar to the location in the F-150 since the dashboards are similar.
I have the integrated brake controller in my F 250 and can say it's the best brake controller I've ever used.
If the Exp is like the Superduty...
The good news is that there are no special tools needed.
The bad news is it's soda.
All you have to do is remove the "chrome" surrounds by prying them up. Then just pry up the rest of the console after removing the screw under the rubber mat in the recessed area of the console.
Go to...
Yes I did the install myself. The hardest part was lossening the factory bolts that are used to hold the tow loops.
Took about 2 hours total to assemble and install.
Make sure you follow the directions, because there are some issues that can arise if you install it in a different...
Mine grill guard was bolt together, but it's still a pretty strong unit. Mine has a built in step to help access the engine from the front. I haven't needed to use it, but I'm sure it will support me just fine (195lbs).
The cross bars have some holes predrilled for mounting lights. I had...
All I can comment on is the grille guard.
I out a go Rhino on my 2008. Took all of 2 hours to install. The instructions tell you you can not reuse your tow loops, but you can. The mounting hardware that Go Rhino supplies works great, and will work fine with the tow loops.
I just have...
Welcome to the Board, and congrats on the new truck.
If you bought the truck at a deallership, take it back and have them replace the window regulator. Also have them check the passenger side. The window regulators in the Expeditions are cable drive and are a pain in the butt to work on...
I have a Kenwood unit in my 2008.
Great unit! I originally installed a less expensive brand name, but had problems with that unit. Crutchfield took the unit back and gave me full credit for the bad unit when I upgraded to the Kenwood.
Install was a breeze, but then again, I do...
Pictures of my camera, switch location, and the head unit showing the camera's image.
Sorry for the dirty truck, but we just had a brief snowfall and the raods were recently salted.
Marc
I also have a Kenwood head unit in my 2008.
For the backup camera, I have a switch on the dash (in the OEM Aux in location) that turns the camera on, and changes the display to the rear camera. I just followed the video line with a small gauge wire to power the camera.
This way I can...
Look for a three wire "bundle" that may or may not have a plastic connector on the end. The wires will be wrapped together. If I remember correctly, the Aux in plus into the plastic connector.
Pulling the OEM radio won't help, since the AUx in will be part of the OEM harness.
What...
Prisoners upfitting cruisers.
Whose idea is that?
Do they also let the prisoners test fire your guns to make sure they work?
As for the Aux in, you will probably have to remove the radio and look inside the console for Aux input.
If you have a Havis console, you will need a Torx...
Contact the radio installer. Ask them what they did with the AUX in jack. Chances are that they just buried the wire somewhere. Hopefully ythey didn't cut it.
When I pull OEM consoles for aftermarket (Havis consoles), I always make sure the AUX in jack is available to be used by thr end user.
I have a mouse problem also. In my Expedition and Super Dury pickup.
I have placed a bag of moth balls on the battery in the Expy (where I saw the mouse poop.)
I also put dryer sheets under the 3rd row seat where they were building their "home". Haven't seem any signs of them since...
I bought some Covercraft from Cabelas fro the front seats of my truck. They fit great and are comfortable. Sorry, but I can't help you with the second row captains chairs.
If the Expediton's brake controller is like the F150 and Superduty brake controllers, it won't be an inexpensive upgrade.
You will have to replace the master cylinder and some other electronics.
I have the integrated brake controllerr in my 2005 F250. It's a great controller. When I...
I changed out the OEM stereo for a Kenwood in my 2008.
Very easy to do in the Expeditions.
I highly recommend (sp) Crutchfield.com. You may pay a little more, but their technical support is worth the extra cash. I had an issue with the module for the steering wheel controls and they...
I had this happen to mne last summer.
Before I could bring it in for service, I changed the head unit on my stereo. I had to dixconnect the climate control head to remove the bezel for the stereo install.
When I put everything back together, the climate control worked fine. Still does...
The relay melted because the fuel pump was drawing too much power through it before it failed.
Relays are rated like fuses. They can only "flow" a limited number of amps before filing. You are very lucky you only melted the relay and didn't start a fire in the electrical panel and lose more.
I had the dealer throw in an ESP (from Ford) when I bought my 2008 used last year. The dealer gave me the top of the line ESP with only $100 deduct. The truck had issues witht he front window regulators and the auto climate control. Fixed for nothing. (Selling dealer reimbursed my $100. )...
As a LEO, I wouldn't stop anyone for having a GPS on thier windhield unless it's right in front of the driver. As other's have already posted, if it's off to the side, you probably won't be stopped.
If you mount it on a dash mat, you'll never have an issue, plus you won't have those annoying...
