Gravel road run on my Concours 14

The funny thing was that I was trying to get my wife to take some video before we got lost........ errrr I mean took the scenic route. She said she wishes that she would have had the camera going while we were on the gravel roads because we were hitting bushes and tree branches that were...

Gravel road run on my Concours 14

My wife and I took off today to ride to Davisville, MO to see the Dillard Mill and eat at a place called the Traveler's Table. So we left about 11 and took off on some great Ozark roads. Somehow, about 15 miles from Davisville my TomTom wanted to take us on a "shortcut". Well the road started...

    My son, the mechanic

My son was getting into bed and looked out the window and saw me in the driveway still working on my ball joints, so he made my wife bring him out to help me. http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=10150332459389167

    Best Oil

You should be fine with the 10-30, but 5-20 or 5-30 might be a little to thin for a high mileage motor in the summer months.

Let's see your X at it's Dirtiest or Snowiest!!!!

It isn't the dirtiest but if we go by total cost to get it cleaned then I have to be up there. I have washed my Expy twice since this trip through the mud and I still need to do it again. Total spent so far is $18. I am guessing another $10 bucks should get the rest of the mud and residue off.

    Click, click, click..wtef?

Lean condition could very easily be caused by a fuel rail or injector problem. I would suggest checking to make sure you have good fuel pressure, then try to isolate the problem from there.

    Best Oil

+1 on not buying in to marketing hype. I have found that all my vehicles perform the same with the cheap oil. I have paid big bucks for Royal Purple, Mobil 1, and Amsoil. I use the Rotella in all my vehicles and even my motorcycle likes it, with it's wet clutch. I will continue to use the...

    Best Oil

Rotella is cheap an gives great protection, if it is good enough for an 18 wheeler to use for tens of thousands of miles between changes then it is good enough for my Expy. I am using the 10-40 and I haven't burned a drop in the 1500 or so miles that I have driven my Expy this year. $20 or so...

    My truck is Ringing

It could also be a baffle from inside the muffler that is vibrating.

    My truck is Ringing

Did you check your voicemail? :joke: Seriously though, it could be your idler pulley doing that since it happens at random times with your engine under load.

    front sway bar bushings

They will last alot longer than rubber bushings. That is the main reason I bought poly bushings. I noticed that my front end felt a little more tight than before, but I had also changed out my upper A arms, tie rod ends, shocks, and now lower ball joints. I don't have a single piece of my...

A question about rear rear control arms

I KNOW the strength of my trailing arms is way above what I will ever put my Expy through......... that was the point. I don't ever want to worry about my axle rolling up and breaking a driveshaft from using something that should be good enough. YMMV. Just my 2 cents.

    excursions

If I towed something heavy I would definitely have a PSD Excursion, but I don't have anything over 5,000 lbs to tow so I bought what I could use. Anything more than a gas V8 was overkill for my needs. FWIW I wouldn't touch a 6.0 PSD, it would have to be a 7.3 PSD or a Cummins. I don't know...

    Which optima?

I have owned two seperate Optima batteries. I had a red top in my Denali and a yellow top in my G35. I never had a single problem with either of them. I am actually shopping for a battery right now and will probably go with either NAPA or Bosch with at least 850 CCA, I just don't see the...

    Hello From Illinois

Welcome, I was just up by Rockford a couple weeks ago to ride the stagecoach trail other good roads on my motorcycle. That is a really nice area, with a lot more hills then I thought there would be. I want to go back and eat at Poopy's in Savanah again. That place was literally the shit...

A question about rear rear control arms

I had to buy 10 foot lengths also. Just make sure the metal you buy will be strong enough, I used bullet proof DOM tubing (1-3/4 OD x .250 wall x 1.25 ID) and it was not cheap. But there was a suggestion for me to use schedule 40 tubing which I didn't trust since I take my kids in the Expy and...

indicators that my shocks are worn?

What is "juttering"? If your Expy rides like Uncle Buck's car then yes you probably need new shocks.

A question about rear rear control arms

Be advised that making your own will end up costing as much or more than just buying some that are already made, unless you have a welder to hook you up. I had well over $200 invested in my lowers that I had made after buying the DOM tubing, polyurethane bushings, and other misc stuff. Add in...

    Lower Ball Joint replacement

+1 on replacing it all at once. I forgot to replace the lower ball joints when I did my upper control arms, tie rod ends, anti-sway bar bushings, end links, and shocks.

What I have been up too...

Here is the big question: How much was the total for this trip since fuel was $6.15 a gallon and a cheeseburger with fries was $14? I think I would have to head for Cuba or Haiti since I am a government employee. :rotflmao:
