    Are you sure it isn't just the torque converter. Those are the weak link in the trans from what I have read. You can probably get the trans rebuilt and a heavy duty torque converter for around $1200-1500.

    Short answer is no. You might as well spend a couple extra bucks for a tank of 91-93 octane. You will actually spend less doing that rather than buying a couple bottles of quality octane booster.
