    Gorilla Lug Nuts Fit

I found that part number, but in looking I also found 61148, which is an "extra large" cone seat. Factory-style bulge acorn. Are these good too, or are they too big? I can't find any dimensions online. This shouldn't be so difficult.

    Gorilla Lug Nuts Fit

Reading about swollen stock lug nuts here, I bought replacement Gorilla spline lug nuts. Part no. 26145BC, which was a 32 pack (I know I only needed 24, but on Amazon it was that or 20, basically same price. my question is about fitment. Stock lugs nuts are 1 3/4” overall height, and height of...

    Protective Mats of All Sorts

I went with the standard rubber mats Weather Tech makes, not the liners. Very happy with them so far. They won’t hold as much liquid/slush as the liners do, but they do protect the carpeting well, and similar (VW Monster mats) I own do hold enough. Second and third row (Max) mats are...

    Valvoline Maxlife Automatic Transmission Fluid

I know all that. I meant I would want to see Ford listing the maxlife blue as meeting their specs. Vavloine can claim their branded products "meet or exceed" any auto manufacturer spec. Whether they do or not in actuality is a different story.

    Valvoline Maxlife Automatic Transmission Fluid

I would want Ford, not Valvoline, to make the claim that the blue bottle is OK for the tranny, though.

What Have You Done to Your 4th Gen This Week?

Changed the stock spark plugs to the NGK ruthenium recommended here. Found them on Rock Auto for about $60 shipped. RA said they were pregapped to .032” so I regapped them to .030”. I broke the locking nubbin off the middle and rear coil packs on the passenger side while removing the plug...

    One Touch Rear Window Removal

$50 credit for not having it. Makes me wonder how much a Ford dealer might charge for parts to add this feature. Guessing many times more….

In praise of the Perelli scorpion AS Plus 3

For comparison, the Firestone ATs on my old suburban handled the snow without issue.

In praise of the Perelli scorpion AS Plus 3

Got our first real snow today, so my first test with these tpmsf rated tires. NOT impressed. In 2w drive slipping when starting from a stop. Rear end sliding out when turning onto side streets. In 4A I moved through an unplowed parking lot, but lots of asr activation. Also abs activated in...

Gen 4 Expedition MAX Interior part #/description

My gap hider on the left was detached when I bought the vehicle (used). I just screwed it back into place and it’s fine. I see there’s supposed to be springs (in the TSB), but I didn’t notice any, and gravity seems to be enough.

    Gas mileage

When I want food fuel economy, I drive my 03 VW Jetta TDI, 45-50 mpgs. I drive the Expy for family trips, towing the camper, or when I just feel like it. So the FE doesn’t matter so much, though it’s better than what I got with my Suburban but can do everything the Chevy could.

2018 Expy won't start, brake pedal tight

Your dash lights cutting out when you push the start button (assuming, since I can't see it) is a clue. Have you scanned it for codes?

    AGM battery

From the factory, the car is set to charge the battery to 80% of capacity. You can change this with forscan.

Any families gone from Supercrew pick up to Expedition?

I had captains chairs in the second row of my Suburban (GMT900). Bench in the Expedition. It’s easier to get in and out of the third row in the Ford with the way the ends of the bench slide and flip forward than it was in the ‘Burban. This may also have to do with the rear door being longer on...

What Have You Done to Your 4th Gen This Week?

Broke out the forscan to allow the fogs to come on with parking lights, but I didn’t find the right thing I guess. Installed the HIR bulbs in the lows and yellow LEDs in the fogs. HIRs are brighter than the stock sylvanias, but nothing crazy. I’ll probably upgrade to HIDs.

What Have You Done to Your 4th Gen This Week?

Installed H11 Philips HIR bulbs. Easy clipping of the top tab. Turned the lights on after installing one, and the HIR was apparently brighter that the stock 9005 Sylvania. Went to install new 3000k led fogs, and found that the 4190 listed is incorrect. I have H8s in there. Returned those and...

In praise of the Perelli scorpion AS Plus 3

When I was looking at my expy before I bought it, I immediately noticed three sketchy looking china “highway” tires that matched and a fourth that was in the same ballpark but obviously not a match. Told the dealer new matching tires were a must, and they just said “what do you want?” I told...

2022 Expedition new headlights quality question

The best headlights of any car I’ve driven were Cibie halogen reflector round lights in my VW Vanagon, using a relay kit to power them directly by the battery. They were bulb-replaceable versions of the old bigger round sealed beam headlights. Better illumination than the projector HIDs on my...

What Have You Done to Your 4th Gen This Week?

Had Krown treatment done. Rust is what made me get rid of my 2010 Suburban and buy a newer vehicle. And since my expedition was built march 2020, I get a 5 year warranty.

    Brake Controller Woes

I got a $60ish dollar trailer brake controller in my 2020 Max. Activated the module with Forscan. Then my battery started dying. Since it was less than a week since I bought the car, I brought it to the dealer (used car) from which I bought it. I figured the battery was suspect, but they said...

Changed out halogen for LED today

The only 4500k leds I found were the DDM Sabers, and they are a bit spendy. I do NOT want 6000-6500k leds as they disappear in bad weather. If I could run 3000k yellow low beams I would, like the selective yellow that was used in Europe. These old eyes saw great with that color.
