I've driven 3 low-mileage 22 Expeditions: my Platinum w/CCD and 2 rentals w/out CCD. Night and day difference — I would never buy an expedition without CCD. It handles rough gravel/dirt/washboard roads even better than my Navigaitors did with their air shocks.
Big downpour today with tornado watch; when it was coming down in sheets blind spot and cross-traffic alerts came on. I have the Weathertech flaps front and back.
My 22 Platinum has that as well. It is clearly the design of the part: any impact that could create that kind of deep depression would deform (and/or destroy) the shape and surrounding area of the pipe. The rest of the pipe is perfect in mine, as well as all the other photos posted here.
You're absolutely right. I've dozed off for a second or two many times on the freeway late at night, sometimes when driving home from a long workout; thankfully for only a second or two. I know someone who dozed off for a few seconds and flipped his car; he survived but was left permanently...

I had thought it was some kind of capacitive touch sensing (I was impressed that they could do that through leather...), but you're right. I did 8+ hours of driving today and when BlueCruise was in Lane Assist mode I mostly kept my left hand down at the bottom of the wheel at 6:00, and like you...
it will slow down to a crawl if traffic becomes congested, and come to a stop and then resume in stop-and-go traffic, which makes driving in that kind of annoying traffic effortless.
It doesn't sense your hands on the bottom half of the steering wheel, but other than that it works fine for me.
When it goes 'hands free' it's great — I've become very spoiled being able to use that on the freeway.
Was that a metallic paint color? I had 3 small slight scrapes that were too deep into the paint to buff out but not down to the metal; the body shop did sand and then had to blend out quite a bit around those areas to exactly match the metallic paint (Dark Matter Grey Metallic). $1,800, but a...
My Platinum's windshield has a 'sound shield' (or something like that) logo in the lower right corner; I'm wondering if the hood insulation is purely for sound abatement and only included on higher-end trims?
'22 platinum w/wireless CarPlay. First thing I do before driving off is put the phone on the pad — CarPlay starts and the phone charges. If I make a quick stop and don't want to take the phone with, I just slide the cover closed and phone is hidden.
Perfect.
