Our oil issues had nothing to do with blow by or worn parts. The problem was that the supercharger sucked so hard, it basically pulled the oil straight from the valve cover.
In fact, at one point I pulled the intake tube to make some adjustments and oil ran was literally running past the...
We did true duals on our 04 Expy but shop had to use 2.25" pipe after the muffler for clearance sake. It can be done but its a pain in the ass. My shop said that I would have gotten the same benefit with one 3" pipe versus duals. But I will admit, it is nice being different than most of the...
Thanks Scotty! We haven't had any issues yet with the transfer case however, this Expy sees no off-road time. The decision for 4WD was made when I was on active duty. I just knew if we bought a 2WD, we would end up in one of the Dakotas and get snowed in. Of course now, I am a civilian in...
Tom...your stock will handle the power but you do have to be somewhat conservative. My tuner did dial back the timing some to revent us from doing any damage. A more stout bottom end would be much better though.
As for the tranny, I went with Monster Transmission (www.eatmyshift.com) after...
kentv6...having added the lightning supercharger on my F150 and my wife's Expy, I HIGHLY recommend do the PCV delete and just adding breathers on the valve covers.
Reason: I bought 2 L&S oil separators (supposed to be the best out there) and oil got by them. Also ended up sucking oil from...

The power is NICE to say the least. When you hit the GO pedal, the ass-end squats down and she MOVES. Its awesome getting on the interstate...you'll be flying passed 80 MPH and not even know it.
IC Plumbing (mounting of heat exchanger, IC pump, and IC reservoir):
The IC uses an electric water pump to circulate water through the IC system. The pump is gravity fed from the reservoir and then discharges into the heat exchanger and then up to the IC. Since we had already installed...
Intake, midplate, and SC install complete:
With the intake, midplate, and SC now installed, we moved onto the IC lines and vacuum harness. The IC lines consist of two black steel tubes that bolt to the passenger side of the SC and connect to the IC with 5/8” heater hose elbows. The other...
Intake and midplate ready to go in. Notice the black connectors on the fuel injectors. Those are the adapters previously mentioned. For the record, my wife Cass (pictured here) performed this install with me. She had almost as much gunk under her nails as I did once we were done.
Once the...
As promised, here is the write-up on our Lightning supercharger (SC) install. This write-up is not intended to teach anyone anything. If you undertake this swap, you do so at your own risk. This write-up is strictly for informational purposes. This write-up is specific to a 2004 Expedition (I...
My wife and I did her's out of MDF and fiberglass. We did lose a little room with this setup...especially since the box could have been smaller (less airspace).
You'd be surprised at how affordable the swap is. We probably have between $2500 and $3000 in this swap. If you look at Procharger, Vortex, etc, aftermarket blowers run around $4500 and produce less power.
The sound is fantastic-IT BOOMS! I've had bass situated both ways-straight and on the side-and there's really no difference because bass is omni-directional.
Make no mistake about it-this is MY Expi (regardless of what my hubby posts-LAUGH :D)
~Boiler71's awesome wife~
Just a few pics of the sub enclosure and amp install in my wife's 04 Expi. Enclosure was sprayed with Reflex bedliner spray. While amps are mounted behind left rear trim panel, we have a HUGE computer fan sucking air through the factory sub grill and blowing across the amps.
Thanks Jacks!
Tell you what bhsoula...when I do the install on my 03 F150 (same as your Gen 1 Expi), I'll let you know what the differences were between the install. I suspect my F150 will be an easier install.
As for the tune, the most expensive part is the tuner itself. We are using...

After we marveled in our accomplishments so far…especially since have discussed this install since July, we installed the new midplate gasket and midplate (with IC attached) to the intake manifold. NOTE: when installing the new IC gasket we used some Indian head gasket shellac and thread lock...
Lightning Supercharger swap into an 04 Expi
As promised, here is the write-up on our Lightning supercharger (SC) install. This write-up is not intended to teach anyone anything. If you undertake this swap, you do so at your own risk. This write-up is strictly for informational purposes...
I know I promised you guys a write-up last week but with my wife and I both being sick (damn crud) and trying to finish painting our house so we can list it, I just didn't get it done.
With that said, the write-up is about 90% complete. Just need to review it one more time and tweak and then...
Alright guys...I'm down to $150 plus shipping.
Will be more than happy to strip the tires off if you just need the wheels. I'm sure there is someone out there running steelies that would love to be rolling on some aluminum EB wheels.
Thanks guys! I promise there will be more pics and a detailed write up very soon.
Stoned06...my tuner agreed that we had about another 50 to 60 HP to be gained. But we were all scared to push it based on the cracked metal rods. At some point here, my wife (Cass) and I will pull her down...
5500 RPM. But when he it 6,300, I was waiting for a piston to come through the hood.
It is amazing how this thing drives now. Even with minimal gas pedal, she has no hesitation.
Well...my wife and I just finished our Lightning supercharger install on her 04 EB Expedition. Although there was a little fabrication that had to be done (heat exchanger mounts, intercooler pump mount, and supercharger idler pulley bridge modification), the install was pretty straight forward...
