I had a random misfire on my 98 5.4. No constant CEL. The truck would hesitate on acceleration. Sometimes the CEL would flash but would go away. I replaced the plugs, coils, fuel filter, air filter, the vacuum line that goes behind the throttle body, vacuum line to the brake booster and...
I'm getting my front seats reupholstered on my 98 Eddie Bauer next week. Is there a proper procedure on taking the seats off? I've read some articles about the air bag light staying on or flashing after putting the seats back on. Should I take the air bag fuse out before taking the seats off? Thanks
I have the same Expy. Mine were changed under warranty. Cheap lens. Just like the Chrome clad wheels that came with it..
Here's a thread on another forum: http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/766639-fog-light-lens-cracking.html
i found the fuel pump assembly that I needed from Rockauto.com. They were having a closeout on the Airtex brand for under $100. Here's a discount code if you decide to buy from them. 47898413953891 will expire on March 27, 2011
My 98's rear driver side door wont open from the inside, but it'll open from the outside. I made sure that the "child proof lock" is off. Does anyone here had that issue before and what did you do to fix it? Thanks
Finally done with my conversion. The check suspension light is on as I expect. I'm gonna take the bulb off. My question is should I also take the fuse out that powers the compressor. Or cut the wire that powers the compressor. After doing this, Should I turn the suspension switch on under the...
My 4x2 98's rear suspension has been sagging lately and I can hear the compressor run more. I've seen the kits that are out there for the conversion. But what's your take on the coil springs ($113 set) and shocks ($35 each) from autozone? Any forum members here took this route? I'm just...
Thanks for the reply Racenut. I definitely will enjoy the money savings by doing it myself. Especially after the dealership quoted $1500. I just have to get my mind into "wrenching mode" again, like what I had to do when I had to replace that leaky intake manifold on the T-bird earlier this...
Here's the update on my diagnostic report: AC blows warm air. Ambient temp is 74 degrees. AC compressor cycles fast. Check pressures low 20psi high 130 psi. Added 8oz of R134 to AC system. Check for AC leaks. Found AC manifold line leaking and compressor leaking out front shaft. Has any members...
Well. Last week I had to deal with the dilemma on my 08's shifter assembly. Finally that's out of the way. This week my 98's ac stopped blowing cold air. The dealership called me today and said it's gonna cost around $1500 to fix. OUCH!!! Any forum members here from Las Vegas knows a reputable...
I say fix it and enjoy it. If you sell it as is, you really will not get a lot for it. You might also want to drain the fuel tank and put new gas in it. I drive my 98 once in a while, but most of the time it's on the driveway. Right now my wife is using it. Our 08 is in the shop. Beats paying...
Update: Ford agreed to cover half of the cost since I'm not to much far off my warranty. Whew!!! That was a big help, especially in this economy. When I called, I'm thinking the worst they can say is NO. I'm glad I did it. Now I got to look at that extended warranty packet. Thanks FORD!!!!
Took it to the dealership today. They said it needs a new shifter assembly (over $500 with labor). I'm at 39800 miles and I didn't get the extended warranty. I talked to the service manager, and she said this has been a ongoing problem with the Expeditions, Explorers and F150's with the floor...
When I pulled up into my driveway tonight I noticed a clicking sound when I was shifting up to PARK from DRIVE. The clicking sound happens between REVERSE and PARK. So I decided to do a little more investigation on it by shutting the engine off and shifting the shifter through all the gears...
