It may be the solonoid that regulates the line pressure to the trans. If it gets stuck wide open then the high line pressure will make it shift really hard.....
Just my 2 cents,
Matt
do you have prices and part numbers for the skid plates for the 03 and up expeds? I was going to make a gas tank shield for mine, but my time is worth more than it used to be so I will just buy one if it is cheap enough. I don't know what they were thinking having that plastic gas tank exposed...
and you might want to check out the auto parts stores for the cans with a built in hose/guage (if you don't have gauges) and with the coolboost (or whatever they are calling it now) additive. I added the cooling booster to mine and it cools down much faster. The stuff was developed by nasa a...
if it runs fine down the road then it is not a fuel problem. If the IAC fails you will have to keep the throttle open manually to keep it running. The IAC is a common failure on ford products because it gets gummed up after a fuel miles. The IAC's only function is to regulate the idle speed...
On my premium tune (custom) and some transmission shifting changes I get around 14 in town and 20.5 on the highway with my 4x4 as long as I keep my foot out of the boost range.....
Matt
Buy yourself a chilton's manual for your truck if you can't locate the IAC. It is a long cylindrical thing near the throttle body that has a 2 wire electrical connector plugged into it. If you tap on it hard sometimes while it is not idiling well and it starts idiling then you have found the...
Is it just not idiling? Sounds like the IAC or Idle Air Control. It is basically a valve that allows the computer to control the idle speed....... They are about 40 bucks or so from autozone. We can talk you through troubleshooting it if you wish.
Matt
Because you are now letting more air into the engine for the same throttle position as before. At WOT it wouldn't be any different. It wouldn't be noticible to most drivers.

A turbo kit will be more involved and be more expensive than a comparable supercharger kit. There are some powerdyne supercharger kits for the 02 and earlier expeditions on Ebay once in a while for less than $2000 complete. This is the kit I used for mine, but I had to fab up a bunch of stuff...
that is weird.... something is having a brainfart. If the mouse didn't chew up some wiring, disconnect the battery for a while and try to reset everyting.....
Matt
If the battery light is flashing when you are driving it then you're alternator has probably given up........
Describe the hard starting problem, does it sound like it is cranking slow like a weak battery? This would again point to a alternator problem. Where is the gauge when the truck is...
The throttle body won't help the low end much, but it would breathe a little better up top. The only consequence is that it may actually make the trans shift points at part throttle too early for the amount of throttle you are getting (correctible with dyno shop software only) but for the most...
Does the little green light come on when you push the power button? I think it just takes power to the connector..... you could trace it back and see if it is unplugged elsewhere. Maybe they charged extra to put the fuse in the fuse panel for it......LOL
Matt
Aftermarket, Most people would bitch about the bad gas mileage when making all that extra horsepower. They would take it back to the dealer saying that "I'm only getting about 20 0-60 blasts per half tank so something must be wrong with my truck".....LOL
Most people that have expeditions...
I put ceramic pads on the front of mine too...... now the rear actually gets dirty before the fronts. With the stock pads it only took 3 trips to work and back before the front rims needed cleaning again.
Matt
It could also be the front hub assemblies getting stuck...... The newer ones are vacuum operated and if you spring a leak then the front hubs will always be locked.
Just guessing,
Matt
it depends on what transfer case you have but there is usually two plugs on the rear of the case. The lower one is the drain and the higher one is the one you fill to. Just add fluid untill it overflows out of the top plug.
