Found a 2004 FX4 expedition at a pull apart junkyard and the rest is history lol got both skid plates and bought the hardware from ford.
Special service Expeditons have the skid plates too
Here’s what they look like.
And thanks!!! I’ve having a rough time getting to sit exactly where I want...
That’s me lol
And yes I was thinking about that too... was going to probably drill holes and pin it on there too... as far as skid plates I’m going to just leave my factory FX4 plate for now and then hopefully figure out the rad and cooler covers and also a cover for the bottom of my fan shroud...
No prob! And yeah we’re drilling holes and welding the nuts onto the inside of the frame rails so I don’t have to make a hole in the side of the frame to fit a wrench inside and hold the nuts. I’ll be priming and painting everything while it’s here I have my chassis paint and everything so...
Got my bumper mocked up and ready for welding (later this week) and pretty pumped at how it’s gonna look when the truck is done.

I don’t know about air but the biggest possible lift for the suspension on a ford expedition with independent suspension all the way around is 3 1/2 inches. I got 5 inches out of mine with the 3 1/2 inch suspension lift and a 1 1/2 inch body lift

I have the new IWE solenoid with the cover (the piece under the hood up on the passenger firewall area) but maybe I have a plugged vac line and the drivers side hub is partially engaging and that’s the grind noise I’m getting over turns and bumps ?

I will once the weather is a bit better... my biggest concern is the noise, I get a rumble strip sound on right turns only and over bumps. No clue what’s causing it

Have yet to check the solenoid and wheel ends as i just got the truck back 1 hour ago and it’s dark here. What’s happening is I get sort of vibration or grinding noise when turning or going over bumps especially under load. My shop told me they think it’s partially stuck in 4WD but I was able to...
Looking for a solution, had my truck regeared to 4.56s and I replaced the front axles because they were shot, with the new axles in I’m getting grinding on turns and over bumps, which I’m told is due to the hubs staying engaged (stuck in 4WD) and I’m apparently hearing the typical binding just...
Only problem I had was that I grenaded that factory open diff with 3.73s at only 150k miles. When I put the 4.56s in I had a binding on turns and over bumps and I didn’t know what to relate that to.

That makes sense, I really didn’t think I would be able to run a lsd with the advanctrac system, at least without having to shut the system off (or pull the fuses) every time I drive the truck.
So since I can’t do the limited slip, do you think if I put an air locker in the rear and shut off...
I have a 2006 XLT with advanctrac. It has advanctrac with 3.73 gears, posi up front and open in rear... I had it regeared to 4.56s and am having a few issues.
I never knew it had an open rear end, my question is has anyone with an advanctrac truck ever changed it over to limited slip in the...
Found the heavier duty axles on RockAuto, so I’ll test em out and get back to you. But yeah that’s about the same I’m paying, $2400 for front and rear regear to 4.56s

Got the 4.56s, install kit, and better axles ordered today, will update in a few weeks... this is a long (expensive) road to 37s on a second gen

You have part numbers for 4.56s from Yukon? I think we have the truck trucks in that: 8.8 front and 9.75 rear with 3.73 lsd... if that’s the case maybe I’ll try to go with Yukon as well, they have a master rebuild kit too?

Anyways with all bumper talk in here figured I’d share that I’ve got my WAM bumper ordered and should be mid January when it gets here. As you know I’ve finished my 1.5” body lift on the truck and maybe you guys know I blew the rear end. The trucks getting fixed and also getting 4.56 gears, I’ll...
