I know on my silverado I did something like this to allow my low beams to stay on when I turn my high beams on along with my fog lights. If you can find the fuses and jumper power from the headlights to the fog lights with a diode this will achieve what you are looking for.
Check out the towing section there's a whole thread of what people tow and other answers to your questions. I pull a 16' enclosed trailer probably max weight I've had it would be close to 4500#. That felt like a heavy pull without a distribution hitch.

Ya I messed mine up when bypassing the kill engine with door opens option. Sounds like a programming issue look at the stickies for robots start and there's info on what bank does what for the programming.

Called it the Honda killer. It doubles as a step. I welded a plate / gusset that makes the top a step. It's not indestructible but it would definitely give the upper hand. I was bored and made it at work pretty simple but something along those lines.
Ya typically it doesn't work cuz the housing is designed for the incandescent light output whereas LEDs are more focused. But they sure do have nice LEDs these days. Basically if it looked like stock but was led would be nice. Then also swap the third brake light for led bar
