Sorry to hear that, there's so few of us lifted 3rd gens out there. Keep it as is and tell the wife to park on top of everyone at the grocery store.
As much as I like mine, I too might be heading in a different direction also. Think I might have the wife on board to check out a SuperCrew...
I can squeeze 17-18 out of it if strictly on the highway running @75 mph and the factory rubber, by no means great, but doable. I run the 87 tune on my Hypertech, maybe the Edge might do better, but doubt it. Your 35's are gonna kill you no matter what programmer you choose.
I'm getting that with the programmer, then again, I'm never on a highway, drive time is just 3 miles to work and all stop light to stop light. Did I mention heavy foot off the line and 3.73's?
That size is about a 33.1 inch tire, IMHO, too big without a lift. They'll probably fit, but you will more than likely experience some rubbing issues. If it were me, I'd stick closer to the 275/65/18 or 32.1 inch. Welcome!
Don't need new wires, everything is individually coil fired. However, the plugs might be an issue for you if you are DIY. The factory plug is a 2 piece unit that likes to break when you take them out. There's an extraction tool you might want to invest in. For the plugs, the new Champion...
RSC(roll stability control) is fully activated. You are able to disable parts of the system by pressing the squigglely lines icon on the center stack. Pressing it once turns off certain aspects of the system. Pressing it and holding in for 5 seconds turns it off completely. Try any...
Keep in mind my 3/2 spacers are installed on a 3rd Gen, but I think the lift speaks for itself...
Before lift
After the spacers front and rear
Can you tell the difference?
I had a bad rack and pinion early on after delivery back in 07. No issues after that until last November, when I had 2 coils go bad(#2 and#5). Kinda just the nature of the beast, coils go bad in these things, regardless of generation. Put on a set of brakes at the 45k mark just for piece of...
You shouldn't have the problematic plugs in your 4.6. I, unfortunately, have the goofy 2 piece plugs in mine. The better one piece design is a Champion 7989, but you shouldn't need it.
SO DO I!!! The IRS needs to cut my check then maybe I'll splurge and finish this darn truck. Been running around since last April with the lift and without the rubber, it's getting old.
I've basically done a mod per year of ownership. Mine rolled off the lot in Nov 07 and went right into the muffler shop for the MagnaFlow exhaust. Ran around with just the muffler for well over a year. Boredome set in around year 2, and I threw a K&N intake onto it. No issues with those 2...
Have these on mine, Truxxx is the manufacturer. Been on for over a year, no issues. Same part # for the 05 if I remember correctly.
I'm with Thermo's school of thinking, metal/aluminum over poly
I have the extended warranty through Ford that I rolled into payments when I took delivery back in 07, covers me for 7/100k. Don't know the company though. Only had to use it once for some coils, $100 deductible .
Turned mine, no problems. Easy enough in the driveway, however you need a torx t40?(can't remember what size) for the calipers. I pulled the trigger a little early at 40k and noticed that I had +/- 50% left on both front and back. Put them back in the box and on the shelf for down the road.
I've had my old 33's from my Screw on my Expy without any lift. The back wasn't an issue, I just had to be very careful how far I turned the wheel.
A simple 2in leveling kit is more than enough for the 285's. Personally, I like the "bigger is better" mentality, but you have to keep the Mrs...
Don't know how the AdvanceTrac works on an 06, I'd assume the same way as mine, but a single button push disables the system momentarily. Pressing and holding it in for a couple seconds, shuts it off further. Now the only problem with it and I haven't found a way around it yet, if you break...
