i'm running KYB's on mine and i love the ride. not harsh, handling and body roll are well taken care of. the words floaty never come to mind. in fact i just bought a set of KYBs for my explorer since i was happy with them on the expedition.
i have a set of amber/whites in the rear window of my excursion. they have saved me more then once on the side of the highway!

i just love explorers, they are nimble, reliable(V8 version), alot more room then any jeep inside, better mpg, fun to drive...list goes on.
my obsession with them stems from my childhood and my first truck was a '96. i will always have a 2nd gen explorer.
EX is such a vague term for me since i own and explorer,expedition and excursion LOL
the first gen expeditions have two different size tanks for 2wd vs 4x4 i guess.
4x4 = 30 gallon tank
2wd = 28 gallon tank
if the question was about a Excursion, they all have 44 gallon tanks.
i bought my 1998 XLT 5.4 4x4 in August 2010 with 63,000 miles on her. as of 5/28/13 it has 89,655 miles. has to be one of the most reliable,dependable trucks i have ever owned. i love it to death. i will be sad when she passes the 100k mark though!
250-300 i'm hitting the gas station and putting in 24-29 gallons.
great job!
i felt good about my MPGs over the weekend also. i got 13.7 MPG with my V10 excursion on a road trip.
like death wobble? no, you dont hear of it much with leaf spring trucks(all 4x4 excursions use leaf springs all around) the 05-up super dutys have had issues with this in the past. i dont know anyone personally that has had the issue.
all i've had to do is ball joints in my old 2004...
yes the excursion is a super duty based truck. it actually sits on a modified f-250 regular cab 137" wheel base frame. the changes are mostly in the rear for the 44 gallon fuel tank and third row seating/cargo area.
yeah the 7.3s hold value like crazy. even the 6.0s are not cheap.
personally i have no want and secondly no need for a diesel. the huge price point over the V10, extra maintenance cost, higher repair costs, cold weather issues made the gasser a no brainer and i've been so very happy with the...
i've seen 15.9-18 on the highway w/my 98.
hell if my '02 V10 4x4 excursion can do 14.5mpg on the highway a 2nd gen expy should be able to hit a few clicks above that.
yup i own both, personally thats the best way to have it. but i know thats not a option for many.
i have owned 3 V10 4x4 excursions all with 3:73 gearing(sadly) they are wonderful trucks!!! the V10 is very reliable, its basically just a 5.4 with 2 more cylinders. i have been daily driving a...
looks great! your not the only one to take your truck to the track. hell i've ran my V10 excursion before. 17.07 sec at 79.36 mph. not bad for a house sized truck lol
loving your exhaust! looks amazing.
glad your ok! thats exactly how my old excursion was totaled. Subaru tried to turn left infront of me. we hit at 35mph head on. totaled my excursion and her 2010 forester.
