i think by 36k and no real issues, if you keep up on maint you dont..or hopfully wont need it.
my grandma always buys chryslers, i know different brand..ect but same kinda deal. they buy new and always get the 7/70 chrysler extended warranty. they have done this on the last 4 cars...
i've got a 25" cherry bomb on my '98 5.4 you dont need a tune to change the muffler, hell you dont even need a muffler. its pretty mellow to me, but my other truck is a V10 with no muffler so thats not saying much.

i'm glad to know the truck will last many many years to come! i really love it..so reliable and ready to go any time. MPGs are great and the size is a nice happy medium between the excursion and explorer.
few more mods in the plans..we'll see what another 2 years brings her :)
you would not last in fairbanks,ak when it gets really cold they will leave there cars/trucks running 24/7. otherwise it will freeze up solid and pad heaters, block heaters and battery heaters wont thaw it out. ever been driving and the heater is on full blast the windows start freezing with ice...
LOL reading that stuff is funny.
in the winter if its real cold -20 to -30 i'll get my truck idle 30/45mins before leaving work. otherwise its just the normal run time of 24min's. i refuse to get into a cold truck. yeah my MPGs drop town to 6-7mpg but so be it.
if i'm out running around on a...
wanted one since my grandfather had a new '98 xlt in '98.
happened on a great deal from my grandpas company in 2010. could not pass it up! so i bought it. been a fantastic truck!
the sad part of this is in 2 years i've driven about 43k miles between the expedition and excursion and spent about $14,000 on gas....yeah...damn! idk how the hell i drive so much. i dont do that many road trips and my daily commute is only about 30 miles round trip daily.
i do love having a...
so, i have officially passed the 20,000 mile mark since buying this truck 2 years ago this month. i have to say i'm very proud of this $2500 cream puff.. 1 alternator, 1 belt, set of plugs, set of brake pads all around and otherwise its been oil changes every 5-7k (synthetic) and lot of gas...
mines in the middle at the bottom, i leave it up 24/7 365. allowed here.
[in my excursion but you get the idea]
funny thing is my uncle in WA has one on the windshield of all his cars and had never had an issue but its its supposed to be illegal there?
make sure your running an oil filter with a anti - drain back valve in it. also make sure your running the correct oil weight.
i had this w/mine and it was due to running thinner oil then i should have. after going back to the correct weight i have not had an issue.
but the cam phasers on the...
yeah if its not giving you problems i would fix it as things go wrong and keep up/do all maintenance and that's about all you can ask of a older truck.
age and mileage doesn't really matter so long as you take care of it..it will take care of you.
i used mine today to run around and go shopping. only put 260 miles on it in the last month and 8 days. going to fill it up then i'm letting some family from Chicago use it for the 3 weeks they are here. they are planning to drive all over so i need to give it a good check-up before next weekend.
i lock mine out as soon as i get in the truck, only time i allow it to go into O/D is at highway speeds (65+) for a long enough period if time to make it worth it. i hate the tranny hunting for gears as that creates heat and heat is the No.1 killer of auto trannys.
