    Electrical Help!!

That looks nice! Sure hope they are waterproof. :) I installed mine on the bottom of the door panels (again, not on an Expy but in a car). They worked great and were well protected from the elements. I hope to do the same thing for my truck eventually but I haven't checked yet to see if there's...

    Second Row seat

In a collision, a damaged seatbelt can sometimes break. Is it likely? Who knows, but is it worth taking a chance? I remember working on GM cars back in the day and they even warned against using chemicals to clean the seatbelt (especially bleach) as it can weaken the threads that make up the...

    Electrical Help!!

You should unplug the connector mainly to protect the SJB circuitry while you're working on it. Remember this is a solid-state device. You'll need to ID and tap the correct violet wire (that can be tricky because there's more than one, although the incorrect wires should have a colored stripe on...

    Second Row seat

Good point, but if you don't follow proper procedures when replacing your BDA it probably won't endanger the life of one of your passengers. When it comes to things like seats, seatbelts, airbags, etc. it's hard to argue that being "better safe than sorry" isn't a wise approach.

    Electrical Help!!

I never tried to access the SJB in my 2009 (now traded in and gone). But, I know it's behind the right kick panel. Unfortunately, the connector you need to access is one where the wires aren't easy to get to. The wire you are looking for is Violet, but I know from experience the colors tend to...

    Electrical Help!!

You're in luck that I not only have a 2009 wiring manual, I also have a complete spare SJB to take pictures of. Will post as soon as I can. . .

    Electrical Help!!

In 2009, the Puddle Lamps are powered by Pin 12 of C2280C of the Smart Junction Box. There's an FET inside that controls the circuit (not a relay). You might be OK tapping into this, but be aware of adding too much additional current draw. (The manufacturer won't use any thicker wire than is...

    Electrical Help!!

What year is your truck? The fuses you are tapping are always hot. Depending on the year, the circuit is controlled by an electronic switch (FET) inside the Smart Junction Box (aka Body Control Module). I did the exact same thing you are attempting in our Grand Marquis. But, I didn't want the...

    Second Row seat

The seat frames are an important safety item as any malfunction in the frame, attachment points, or mechanism could have potentially serious consequences. Ford recommends that a broken seat frame be replaced. It's always best to follow the recommendations of the manufacturer as presented in the...

    Second Row seat

Year? Assuming 07+ unfortunately, for the most part, the seat frame is not serviceable (i.e. few parts can be replaced individually). You might try lubricating the mechanisms (including the points where cables enter/exit their sleeves) with white lithium grease.

Heated Steering Wheel - Installation on my 2017

I'm really looking forward to hearing the rest of the story about this install, particularly on the programming side of things. Thanks again for sharing!!! :D

    2017 Buying Question

As has been stated, you can get a 2017 Platinum with Load Leveling Rear Suspension -- even though 22-inch wheels and CCD suspension were standard equipment for that year. Some Platinums came from the factory *without* CCD and 22-inch wheels. They were mostly fleet vehicles. I saw quite a few of...

How bare bones can an Expy get?

The SSV is badged as an "XL." I know because I was shopping for one and almost bought it. . .

How bare bones can an Expy get?

Well, the XL model is even more "bare bones" than the XLT. Some don't even have a 3rd row seat! They come with column shift and no console between the front seats (though many have an aftermarket console installed there).

    Power Running Boards and mudflaps

I just had a set of OEM Ford mudflaps installed. The shop that did the work told me they didn't have to drill any holes.

Electrical Issues after blower motor change

I believe all these functions are controlled by the Smart Junction Box (SJB). It may be malfunctioning or damaged. Also keep in mind the blower motor produces a very large voltage spike when turning the motor OFF. Ford should have circuit protections built in to protect against this, but if...

    Seat Cover Replacement

The heated/cooled seats are highly dependent upon air flowing through channels in the seat foam. As the foam ages and wears, it crumbles, filling in the channels and obstructing air flow. Thus, replacing the seat foam can go a long way towards fixing inoperative climate seats. With that said...

Newbie Questions - Considering purchasing a 2015-2017 Expedition..

You are correct, the option for CCD was packaged with 22-inch wheels. It was described in the 2015 & 2016 brochures as "22" polished aluminum wheels (includes continuously controlled damping [CCD] suspension)." This became standard equipment on Platinum models for 2017. Even though all 2017...

    Adding BLIS

Well I really want to add this to my truck as well. :) It should be doable as it's been done before with F150s and the setup is almost identical. I don't think adding the hardware will be a problem. More likely, it will be getting FORScan to work making changes in the code in whatever modules...

    Adding BLIS

I don't know for sure, but I strongly suspect the powerfold mirrors use the same connector (C516, C622), but with pin 6 missing for the BLIS LED connection. You would need to get a spare connector/pigtail, or locate a Ford wiring kit that has the same pins, and then replace the glass with that...

Newbie Questions - Considering purchasing a 2015-2017 Expedition..

    1. RE: '15-'17 Changes: Minor changes in options, i.e. what's standard and what's optional equipment. Varies with trim level and year. As an example, CCD suspension became standard on Platinum models for 2017 but it was a standalone option before that. No 3rd-Gen Expedition was available with a...

    Adding BLIS

Wiring manual shows Parking Aid is a completely separate system. I seriously doubt you need a new bumper. There's no listing of parts that show a different bumper with and without BLIS. The system really is just the rear SOD module sending a signal and activating the LED in the mirror. Still...

    Adding BLIS

It's a standalone option on XLT and Limited. BLIS requires 202A for XLT vehicles. It's standard equipment on King Ranch and Platinum. It's a pretty rare option on Limiteds and I have never seen it on an XLT. Some folks have successfully added it on F150 trucks. Hopefully someone will figure out...
